Guys, Kevin is putting his life on the line and we should honor his effort (and maximize it’s impact), by putting a little more muscle to market awareness.
Mew’s PR release on the site is great, but it’s getting no traction with media (aside from Examiner.com). Go to Google News and search Propecia Hunger Strike (etc). Nothing aside from Examiner has picked it up.
I’m pretty heavily involved at the intersection of online marketing/traditional media, the company I’m with is on the first page of Google organic results for “seo marketing” competing with thousands of other firms worldwide.
Sending to news outlets ourselves isn’t going to have anywhere near the impact as using a professional known news distribution service. This is so because as an unknown sender our messages land in spam email folders (in large measure).
For this reason, I suggest we collectively fund sending Mew’s Hunger Strike news release via eReleases.com. Their most sophisticated distribution offer is only $ 499. If ten or so of us pitch in, we should be able to cover that easily. This eReleases service is far better than some of the $50 services out there that basically sends to generic inboxes … not editors individual inboxes. I’ve used them occasionally for clients of mine. They are NOT my employer btw.
