Can't get a manual erection. Please advise

Hi Guys,

I’ve been off finasteride for over a year now, and somehow (I’m absolutely baffled) I just realized that no matter how much I manually stimulate my penis, there is not even a beginning of an erection. Nothing. My penis has zero desire for stimulation. I’ve tried a number of times in the past few weeks, including one time where I was super aroused in my brain from sexting with a girl.

I’m freaking out because, is this new (a crash) or have I just not noticed before… after over a year post-fin?! UPDATE: maybe i mistakenly thought my hand could do it because i do get erections by hand+porn and sometimes by hand (only) in bed in the morning (I’m beginning to think my very occasional morning erections make my penis more receptive to manual stimulation). Either that or I’m deteriorating (new symptoms since 7 days ago: penis pain/structure).

I appreciate any input, because I didn’t find a comparable case on the forum. It’s been a severely anxious past 7 days and nights where the ground is sliding from underneath me as I got new symptoms (penis) and keep discovering uglier symptoms and possibilities. (If it seems strange to you that I’m so clueless, my finasteride regime gradually ramped up the dose over 6 months. Changes were imperceptible despite monitoring myself)

I’m not sure either. But try to trust in the possibility that you are having a temporary bad phase and that it will become a bit better soon.

Thank you Wintermoon. Anyone else?

Well, I’ve had all the symptoms you’re talking about and seen them come and go and come and go again.

Recently I had some pain for a couple of days which I only had a few weeks after crash. The last Couple of days it’s been gone again, but I was extremely worried about it.

Being in the midst of all this can drive you to panic, obsess and worry constantly. When things calm a little for me, I feel much more at ease.

I can’t advise you on how to improve your situation but your fears will not be driving an improvement if there is any kind of mental element.

You could get a prescription to help or you could try not reinforcing negative outcomes by not testing yourself wherever possible.

I’m not sure if that’s much help, but in absence of a guaranteed result generating answer, it may be worth doing what you can to reduce the stress this is causing you, which could help reduce physical manifestations of the condition.

Greek, thank you so much for your reply. Really appreciated!
You’re right, my priority is to stop the anxiety (I don’t want to develop mental sides).
Thinking of taking a break from this whole thing and try to get some sleep.
