Hey so ive been suffering from this crap for a little over 2 years. For a while I was taking a combination of a lot of different supplements and wasnt seeing any great benefits. So for the past 2 months ive been slowly been weening off the supplements. First i dropped zinc, then l arginine, then about a month later i dropped tribulus. Now all i take is a multi vitamin daily and vit d3 every other day, and man, these past 8 days have been the best ive felt in a long time. Of course, there is a good chance this feeling wont last with me forever, and ill be hitting myself for making this post and jinxing my progress.
Just thought this experience might show that an excess amount of supplements may not be the best thing, and maybe to just experiment with them one at a time.
Supplements had diminishing effects with me. I don’t take them anymore. So yes, they may do more harm than good.
I think getting your nutrition from real food (nothing packaged/processed) is the best source of health and bioavailable nutrients. The paleo diet (google it) has done wonders for me and others I personally know.
I’ve been given tons of supplements issued by docs, and they have their merit and can give you a boost, but overall, I’m happy not to be counting pills every day, instead taking a quality broad spectrum pharmaceutical-grade multi-vitamin which contains most everything I could need and more.
Similarly, I now try to stay away from most all meds. In the quest to get treatment for PFS and finasteride’s effects, I feel I’ve been experimented on when we didn’t really truly know what we were treating. Take it easy on your liver, don’t over-medicate.
Flamingpie, i would answer your question as DEFINITELY YES:
Many supplements make me much worse, particularly:
- Regular doses of zinc
- Arginine causes my gyno to flare up and makes my testicles hurt so I’ve quit that too.
- Tribulus or Ashwaganda both cause my gyno to flare up again and takes several days to subside.
The only supplements that i take at the moment are:
- Vitamin E Toco-sorb daily
- Noni-juice, echinacea and a garlic capsule daily, to help my immune system.
- Multi-vit, once or twice a week
- For an occassional libido boost, I take dose of Muira Puama or Royal Jelly.
- Cialis or Levitra as needed
- If I’m feeling a bit stressed or a bit anxious i take Valerina, or Rhodiala
I think starting too many supplements at once is a bad idea. It’s hard to tell what’s helping and what isnt. But if you can identify one by one the supps that are actually helpful, then taking those ones all at once is fine.
although this is old post, but I would say flamingpie you did not learn your lesson.
um, why would you say that?
I think sp is hinting at the fact you got into this mess by taking a natural supplement that did more harm than good.
1-there are many cases of gyno from tribulus. Especially for us T /DHT is not being metabolised so where extra T is going to? gyno?
2- Don’t believe about a lot of supps being sold, too many lies.
3-If you want to experiment, go one thing at a time for few weeks, wait for few weeks and try the next one.
Or just don’t use fancy supplements from the bodybuilding world.
lol sp i feel like your not understanding the point of my post.
I took alot of supplements, wasnt getting improvements, I stopped ALL of them, and now im feeling better. I think I learned my lesson not to blindly take all these supplements I don’t know much about.
To say I didnt learn my lesson would imply that I began taking all those supplements again once I noticed this current improvement…which I havent.
