Brain Fog lead to other more serious issues?

Hello,

I have taken propecia for 14 plus years. I don’t have any problems with erections, libido, ect. I am solely in the brain fog camp, which I think is actually worse than libido problems truthfully. Anyway, I don’t want to get into doom and gloom and go into all the details. If you have it, you know what it’s like.

What I was wondering about is if this type of neurological damage can cause more serious illnesses down the line, such as MS, diabetes, dementia or any host of other more serious illnesses. Has anyone who has had PFS developed a more serious illness from these hormonal imbalances? Is there something that can be done in the earlier stages of PFS that can prevent more serious diseases from occurring down the road?

Thanks,
G

Are you still on it? Unclear… it’s right after one stops that all hell breaks loose (at least it was in my book).

If you’re still on propecia, you’re on the wrong forum.

No, I’m totally off of it, and I’m never going near it again.

I feel like my brain is fried all the time. Mostly a buzzing type of sensation where my pituitary gland is, in the center of my forehead. Although, the brain fried sensation seems to move around to other areas of my head.

I just hope this doesn’t lead to more serious issues down the road like Alzheimer’s. Are there any documented cases of people getting full blown Alzheimer’s from this, that anyone knows of? I don’t want to end up in a home drooling on myself. I’m pretty functional right now, but I hope it doesn’t get progressively worse.

It does seem to help me a little if I try to use my memory, like recalling words that I used to know in foreign language class. Mental stimulation seems to help. My memory is actually pretty good. Just feel like a space cadet.

It seems like towards the end of the day my brain gets worse and flares up a bit. I noticed that if I take a very small amount of melatonin, it seems to offset the flare up quite a bit. I don’t know what the neurological connection is there, but it must have some sort of reaction.

The melatonin obviously makes you a little tired, but it’s better than having that brain fry feeling.

Can you please post what type of melatonin you use, thanks

Brand name is Radiance. It’s 3mg melatonin. BUT I def DO NOT take a whole pill. I think I’d be sleeping for a month. I cut of a tiny, tiny shard and take that. Sometimes just dust will do it to offset things a bit while you’re awake. If you’re going to take a shard, take it before bed, because it will put you to sleep. Melatonin is a chemical that your body naturally produces when you go to sleep. It’s totally safe to use, and it’s an antioxidant. It crosses the blood brain barrier I’ve read.
