Is this the smoking gun that proves Merck’s clinical trials did, in fact, show that side effects can be persistent?
I don’t know if its that. What it does show is that the bosley guy is a hypocrite for criticizing finasteride for the hormonal issues it can cause and then going and having his own doctors prescribe it.
I do not know if he had special information, or if he was bashing propecia at the time because he viewed it as competition. Whatever happened, he sure changed his mind and he found a way to strike a deal with merck where they could both make money, at least in my opinion.
I only went to the office once for maybe 30 minutes, just to talk really, and they were passing finasteride out like it is fucking candy. No cautionary tales given, they say merck and fda say it is completely safe, they do not give you a health check or blood work … nothing. Honestly, like it is candy.
Certainly is evidence of an effort to supress some of these studies. Will be interesting to see how he explains his way out of that one. I went to see my GP about hair loss at about the same time as my brother in law. His GP told him it wasn’t worthe the risk, mine told me it was a fantastic idea and it will have the included “benefit” of shrinking my prostate. Interesting remark to make to a guy my age in good health.
It just shows you, you can cut the good and the bad right down the middle. Some Doctors are just fools, others care enough to have genuine knowledge about what they say, not just what the drug reps tell them to say.

I got that advice too… “It will prevent you from having prostate cancer in the future.” Yeah, if i still have a prostate by then.
My story was I went to the GP about alopecia he says try rogaine or you can go on propecia if you want. I asked him about the propecia and the only thing he said was that if you start taking it you need to keep taking it or your hair will start falling out again. So stupid ass me at the time says ok let’s give it a go. Doc and pharmacist mentioned no side effects AT ALL… Let alone anything about perminant side effects… And here I am today.

Me too. I researched everything merck said and the fda said about finasteride. Based on that and the assurance of the bosley “doctors” I decided to go for it. Merck lied through their teeth about the side effects.
