What a joke, good for them thou. I hope they feel really stupid as the scientific evidence just continues to pile up.
There’s some Doctors I’ve been to, where I would love to have Dr. Irwig and Dr. Traish to call them up and tell them how stupid they are for some of the stuff they have said about this condition not being real/possible.
you know what, Challenge these idiots to take fin or Saw palmetto and then come on-line to prove if it is in the head.
hmmmm, my genitals are shrunken, completely numb, i have gyno etc. etc. etc. and it all happened while i was taking finasteride … and that is psychological how?
who cares what they think, let them waste their own time , we have proof and the truth on our side
The article does not address the physical side effects, only the loss of libido and ED. Convenient?
in other countries what happen?
no discussion at all on PFS in medical forum-site except HL forums?
Research is in Italy … is it a fluke?
Whatever, they are wasting their own time. There is already proof. The non believers do not concern me. It is hard to argue facts and the truth. Let them try. I feel, if they cannot fix us, or are not trying, I do not care what they say or think.

Post Finasteride Syndrome, a psychological analysis
By Admin on June 18, 2012 1:25 PM | No Comments
Currently there is much discussion of this new syndrome “post Finasteride” that rages in the media, especially on the forums and it seems to have affected some users of the drug finasteride. The drug in question was introduced in the United States in 1992 under the name Proscar (finasteride 5 mg) for the treatment of prostatic hypertrophy and in 1997 under the name Propecia (finasteride 1 mg) for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. In Italy sales of Proscar was approved in 1997 and that of Propecia in 1999.
The syndrome post Finasteride is something relatively recently he’s started talking probably about five years ago on a forum named the American of “Propecia help”. A forum established with the intent to share between users across a number of the symptoms that cause you to fall taking finasteride. A drug used by thousands of young people around the world to combat hair loss. Initially, problems were reported mainly on sexual, urological surgery: decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, prostatitis, followed by post of neurological and psychiatric problems, to reach the post Finasteride syndrome, ie the permanence of disorders primarily sexual in nature even after the discontinuation of the drug.
The scientific community has not found a concrete evidence to the existence of post Finasteride syndrome.
Finasteride acts by a mechanism that results in the reduction of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) a metabolite involved in androgenetic alopecia and implicated in the adult in the circuit of the androgen hormones which among other things have the function of maintaining sexual function, favoring libido and sexual potency.
In a proportion of drug users because, as side effects, disturbances of a sexual nature: decreased libido, erectile dysfunction and decreased amount of semen. These disorders involve the manufacturer to 3.8% in the first 12 months of use, that percentage goes down to 0.3% after five years of use. Percentages do not agree with some of independent studies and are compared to side effects, much more pessimistic.
Libido
Side effects include sexual side what is the most complained about decreased libido. That drive, sexual desire or impulse which is the engine of courtship behavior in humans when it makes the sexual act is natural and pleasant, when it does not transform the act into something mechanical and in conjunction with other factors may promote erectile deficit.
This condition can cause a great concern that in some subjects activates an obsessive control of organ function with a consequent increase in anxiety and worry do not relate to sexual intercourse. If Freud emphasized the importance of the libido as a vital energy that flows in humans and its stagnation as a channel that opens blocked neurotic to get free, today, albeit with a different scientific awareness, we can not disregard the possible risk that a reduction of this vital boost can help in subjects, particularly in the segment of young people 18-45 years who are the biggest users of the drug for baldness.
The decrease in libido especially for those who by age or by nature should not try reducing it may upset some, a feeling of inadequacy, anxiety and more generally suffering that accompanies it, often, feelings of guilt against the partner. In fact, a relational level, the loss of desire can be interpreted by the partner, as a neglect and emotional attraction toward them, which can cause instability in the pair.
The reduction of libido should be seen as an important risk factor in conjunction with other biological risk factors, psychological or social issues can lead to pathological states in the subject as anxiety, depressive events, the obsession with their bodies and body dysmorphia; psychological disorders that directly or indirectly maintain altered sexuality of the individual.
One aspect that must be clarified is that if the side effects of finasteride, such as decreased libido, although not entirely clear impact on users of the drug, are confirmed by the manufacturer and in the leaflet, unlike the syndrome post Finasteride has not yet found scientific confirmation that substantiates the biochemical damage that explain the persistence of side effects, some former users who complain, even after several months of drug discontinuation.
Some psychological hypotheses
We are looking for objective evidence from several fronts to explain the phenomenon in question, to date there are no certainties. An important aspect to be mentioned is the psychological version of those experiencing these side effects. This is not to belittle the suffering or damage reported that this condition brings, but to comprehensively assess all possible factors involved.
A psychological factor that may be involved in the syndrome post Finasteride is the trauma that a young person may suffer in sexual intercourse, since not feel supported by the physiological protection network that provides the libido. Insecurity, that once you experience may persist with or without the drug, which well explains the metaphor of the car crash.
Imagine the psychological upheaval which may cause the person who runs in motion confident in his power of youth, strong and invulnerable, protected by their youth, not prone to perceive the danger, on his way to meet an unexpected obstacle and does not think that you can not avoided, which inevitably results in a bad accident? The result is that in some people this event will cause a strong insecurity, a shock in severe cases will give up and lose half the pleasure of driving in the future others will make driving less natural and more permeated with anxiety and uncertainty.
As for the metaphor of the car crash, which is placed in jeopardy by something that the young man for sure and not think about losing that life, even for the young man who lives an “accident in sexual intercourse” is something very endangered it is important that one’s sexuality, which also involves the identity, masculinity, the sense of a self capable.
Forgive me for the combination of the fear of loss of life with the loss of sexuality, but Freud had already spoken of libido as a drive for life, a key driver for human existence. Most likely in some subjects decreased libido and erectile dysfunction can sometimes entails, because a traumatic event that some individuals may trigger a vicious cycle of anxiety and obsessive behavior. Behavior-based control of their sexual functioning that trigger an inevitable and negative domino effect on their sexuality, which, if developed, can persist over time.
A second psychological aspect should not be underestimated is the effect nocebo (Latin for ‘no harm’, harm), a time limit, unlike placebo, used to label the negative or adverse reactions that a person seen, for example, following administration of a false drug completely inert, but it perceived harmful; in medicine is just as powerful as the placebo.
An Italian study of 2007 highlighted the influence nocebo effect on the origin of sexual side effects in users of Finasteride 5mg. The double-blind study found a significantly higher percentage of sexual dysfunction in patients informed on sexual side effects than those in which the same information has been omitted.
From these elements we can assume that in practice such an effect exists, users in recent years, with the spread of information through the mass media in particular of online forums have been bombarded with news relating to side effects of medication. In particular on the forums there was a ramp of comments alarmists, sometimes excessive, and as in the experiment can influence through the effect nocebo users of the drug.
These are just some of the psychological aspects that may be involved in the syndrome post Finasteride. This intervention can not be exhaustive, male sexuality is not reducible to-simplification of any nature, including biological or psychological. Sexuality as well as many other aspects of human life is characterized by a close relationship between the environment, psyche and body that characterize its complexity and uniqueness.
Not forgetting that young males, unlike females, are less prone to prejudice, habit, culture to visit your physician who deals with the physiology and disorders of the reproductive and urogenital tract. Visits to the doctor Specialist in Andrology is often necessary to time frame for a number of issues of sexual and genital much present in the young.
To understand the cause of post Finasteride must investigate all possible aspects that may be involved, by factors of a psychological origin to those with a focus on biochemical etiology is whether independent or dependent on the drug.

fucking absurd …
shrinkage
numbness
gyno
redistribution of fat patters
etc.
etc.
etc.
yeah, this was caused by my mind…
this all means nothing, and is laughable, they should not be allowed to post such ridiculous things publically … these people do not matter to us. we have good people on our side and there is proof …
Is there proof though? What proof do we have exactly?
Proof?
Very consistantly altered 3AdiolG with few exceptions.
Low vitamin D, no exceptions that I am aware of.
Many people have been diagnoised with various disorders… hormonal, sexual and mental.
