AVODART as dangerous as FINASTERIDE?

Hey guys. Still dealing with my finasteride problems but recently found out about a prostate medication called Avodart. Apparently if people take .5mg of Avodart a day, it fights hairloss.

Im all about fighting hairloss but after the horrible things that happened to me on finasteride, I am terrified to try yet another drug.

Does anyone know if Avodart carries with it the same sexual risk that finasteride does?

Thanks guys.

Um, you think finasteride is poison…Avodart is 2x worse… It inhibits 5 AR I and 5 AR II reductase…Good luck if you want to completely destroy yourself.

guess i wont be taking avodart any time soon…

I took both Propecia and Avodart. I was able to recover from the times I took Propecia, but then after taking Avodart – no recovery. Avodart is far more potent than Propecia and the sides are 100 times worse.

So then you are suffering from the Post-Avodart Syndrome and not the Post-Propecia Syndrome?

It should probably be termed “The Post-5ARI Syndrome” (5ARI = 5AR inhibitor), since there are guys who have wound up with permanent side effects from Fin, Dut, Saw Palmetto and Accutane – all of which are documented to operate as 5AR inhibitors.

It is thus likely that it is not the agent itself which causes the problem, but that it is 5AR inhibition itself that does. This means any substance, wether man-made pharmaceutical or natural supplement, could potentially cause this syndrome in susceptible people (of course, there is no test to figure who is at risk, which is part of the problem).

Right. Is this site visible to a search engine if someone enters in terms like Avodart and saw palmetto?

This site is built around Propecia and Finasteride at the moment, and 98% of the content and keywords reflect that.

However, that’s not to say things won’t change in the future regarding other inhibitors.

Its interesting I’ve just read the phase 3 trials of it and results looked good in fact those taking the placebo had more side effects than those on advodart:-

What do people think?

But like a poster said it inhibits more than fin so those suffering sides with fin would more likely to have sides from dut.

Hey Caggy… oops, I mean “Earth” from hairlosshelp.com/forums/mess … erthread=y

Thanks for confirming your identity and letting us all know you’re still taking Finasteride and looking to acquire Dutasteride (as noted through your posts on that site, ie hairlosshelp.com/forums/mess … erthread=y ). Had my suspicions for awhile considering your pro-drug attitude here, and this recent dual post on both sites confirms it for me.

Have fun inhibiting your 5AR enzymes, as far as I’m concerned there’s no reason for you to be here. Consider yourself banned.

I personally wonder this. Dutasteride should be more dnagerous as it inhibits both enzymes but I’ve seen plenty reports on hair sites from guys who’ve taken both who say fin’s SEXUAL side effects were worse, and bad brain fog seems to be the most common complaint for dutas. I’ve no idea if this is a genuine trend and how it would materialise but it seems to be the case for some.

hey mew man, does that mean revivogen is possibly dangerous? i mean it has saw palmetto… and if it absorbs properly then what’s stopping it getting into the blood stream

yes it is dangerous. any 5ar2 inhibitor is potentially dangerous, depending the susceptibility of the individual.

I’ve been off dutasteride for a year now, i just decided enough was enough, dealing with sides

for the last year i just used rogaine foam, a laser helmet thing and 20% azeleic acid cream, just a little every day. these were all things i was fairly certain would not give side effects

well, my sides have not 100% disappeared, but i did lose a lot of weight since being off the dutasteride (and fin before), my nipples are not sore anymore, but maybe a little big. I’d say my libido has recovered a lot, but i still feel like it crashes for a week or more every month or two. And even when i am at my best, i am still not 100%

I am wondering if the azeleic acid cream is causing me some sides as well even though i can find no studies listing sexual sides as a side effect. If it truly is the culprit, i will have no choice but to drop it as well

I was on fin for 3 years before that. I quit many times, each time it took so many months for my libido to return. I remember one exact day one time when it did. so i hope the same eventually happens for all of us here

by the way, i am posting this same question on hairlosshelp, not because i am asking for hair advice, but because i want to pick their brains as well about whether or not these same sides could feasibly come from azeleic acid.

if it interfere with DHT then yes you should assume it will cause sides by all means whether you find studies or not. I used Saw Palmetto and suffering worst, honestly worse than many fin or dut users. you can not show me any studies where SP is supposed to cause any sides.

sps

Avodart is 10 times worse than Propecia. Propecia just blocks one type of 5AR in your body (forgot which one), but Avodart blocks both types and the type that Propecia blocks, it blocks that particular 5AR like five times more strongly too.

I’ve been on Propecia for years without any crazy problems, but after being on Avodart (DUTasteride) for a few months, it gave me really, really bad problems, and I’m paying the price now.

Yeah, surely adovart is much much worse, it will be interesting to see if there are more victims of it as it becomes more and more popular. These guys messing around with adovart and propecia are playing with fire.

Overall, 41% incidences of PFS symptoms were reported with finasteride alone and none with dutasteride alone. Use of a FAERS database demonstrated that there were no persistent sexual side effects reported over a 3.5 year period associated with the use of dutasteride alone. Although the FAERS has limitations such as self-reported data, our findings suggest that dutasteride is not associated with PFS.

This is extremely odd. Is it good or bad news? I am on finasteride currently and am considering not shifting to dutasteride to avoid PFS…
