I’m interviewing this Friday, on TV, with PBS (Public Broadcasting Service). Anonymous.
It’s only a short piece but it’s nice to see the publicly funded station do a story, without the drama or sensationalism to boost ratings like the other news stories I’ve seen.
I have nothing to lose now that I’ve alienated all my friends, family and former coworkers. A photo will be taken of the box full of prescriptions, vitamins and supplements I’ve taken in hopes of recovering. And to be sure I don’t exclude the previously taken prescriptions, I have a list from prescription history.
I realize the side effects are so embarrassing that most men would refuse to talk about it publicly, much less admit to them with a doctor, but if we are to spread the word and inform the public… action is required. Yes, we ALL want to get better, but let’s not forget the innocent and uninformed men who might seek a prescription tomorrow.
Here’s an idea to ponder for members on Propeciahelp. Most likely organized by the Admin.
To identify the groups of men in each region of the globe by country, then state/province/county/city. Then each group could join forces and collectively contact their local, non-biased and non-ratings seeking news station to report their story and what each has done to attempt a recovery, it’s likely the public outcry would be so loud that pressure on the FDA, Merck and the Legal system would force them to BAN Propecia and Proscar from being prescribed for hair loss, and a vast number of men could be forewarned, saving their lives, jobs, families and careers.
In my opinion, one of our biggest enemies is “Embarrassment” to speak out or be identified. And if you believe this opinion, it suddenly makes a LOT of sense as to why Merck and the FDA are HEAVILY relying on statements like this: “Side Effects are only happening to a very small percentage of men”. This is BECAUSE SO MANY MEN HAVE NOT REPORTED IT OR ARE ENTIRELY UNAWARE OF WHAT’S CAUSING THEIR SYMPTOMS!!! Again, just my opinion using logic and understanding of the human condition to never admit a weakness.
I would be interested in volunteering my time to help this cause.
