Any thoughts on this…
The 3rd paragraph starting “untreated liver failer” in this article sounds all to fimilar

Could this be all about how well your liver handles fin?
All about “how much your liver can take”
High copper can have something to do with this.
Has anyone been tested?
One recovery story is all about high copper
An interesting function of the liver is “converts vitamin d into a usuable form”
I know 5AR is metabolised heavily in the liver and I definitely think it is unwise to drink alcohol if you are dealing with sides, especially coming off, I and some others here crashed after a night on the sauce.
Liver disease fits our symptoms perfectly. However liver damage isnt showing up on our blood tests even after 8 - 10 years for some. In rare cases your liver can be damaged to a near fatal condition with completely normal bloods. I bought this up in the past here, but im not so sure that its soley a liver problem. We should be going jaundice by now and we are not. A few of us have high billirubin however which is where juandice comes from. Its just not high enough. It is indicative of copper in the liver though I have been told from a very good doctor.
I do think that some if not all of us have liver “dysfunction”. Copper or heavy metal toxicity sure is the shoe that fits if this is the case. You could also check phase 1 and phase 2 detox pathways. I had this tested and mine were pretty much ok, so somthing else is going on and causing the high billirubin. Most doctors will call it Gilberts Syndrome. I dont buy that. I get symptoms of liver dysfunction - itchy skin, dark circles under the eyes, liver pain etc…
Ive also had another very good doc point out to me that high billirubin is indacative of liver dysfunction. In his words he said its a “toxic issue”.
A while ago I found a guy who had used SPalmetto and got juindice. I emailed him and he told me after stopping SP he recovered and he did not have any issues like ED or low Testosterone etc.He recovered completely normal. He used about 6 -7 months.
I completely hit the skids from Sunday until now. I was improving for a few months with some setbacks, but now everything completely shrunk and is numb. Anxiety, cracking bones, everything came back like after my crash. I’m dealing with it OK now that I no about this and have accepted it. To the point of this thread. I was on a business trip last week and drank moderately with dinner and drank moderately over the weekend. Didn’t get drunk, but I have definetly noticed my symptoms worsening relative to drinking. Its like my body is super sensitive to alcohol.
What were you drinking? I’ve found that beer (of course my old favorite) makes me worse than red wine. I’ve switched to red wine for social occasions when I do drink. If you believe all the internet chatter on them, the hops in beer are pretty estrogenic, while the revesterol in red wine is actually a arimatose inhibitor.
Yep. I drank red wine all week on my trip and was relatively fine. Then Saturday I had two beers. The next day things went south. I can remember two other occassions where my body took significant dives and they correspond with drinking beer. Once about six weeks after my initial crash, I had a string of about 3 days where I was feeling slightly improved and going in the right direction, I had about six beers on the golf course and then really sunk deep into the worst symptoms. This was probably my worst time during this disease. The next time I drank beer was about 3 weeks to a month ago. I had about a month of recovery after anti-biotics for my prostatitis and then had some friends over and had about six heavier beers. The next day I woke up from a nap and all the symptoms were coming back. I WILL BE STAYING AWAY FROM BEER. I have had red wine on many occassions and it has not affected me.
Ditto, beer is worse than wine for me too. I’ve gotten more sensitive to alcohol over the 2+ years that I’ve been off.
Our livers synthesize many of the hormones and energy we need, T3 being an example. Alcohol is not going to help anyone get better.
Scary. I have noticed exactly the same thing when it comes to beer and red wine, hence the reason I drink red wine occasionally now.
Two weeks before I crashed and all this shit started, I went on a crazy holiday and liven on Gin and tonic, beer and vodka for 5 days.
Yea, I’d think some red wine would be good. Long as you can hold back the temptation to drink 6 bottles (who would blame us?). I’d never ever consider binge drinking in this state.
It’s really crazy, the similarities we all have in such a wide range of propecia symptoms.
Probably about 3 or 4 years ago my doc told me I had Gilbert’s Syndrome. Of course this was only discovered after I was already on propecia for years. Not in a million years would I have thought it was due to propecia. I’m learning something new every visit to this site it seems.
I plan on going to the doc again within a month and asking him to check out my prostate and do a blood test (PSA test or something?). While I’m there I’m telling him about the number of propecia users I have discovered who were also surprising diagnosed with Gilbert’s Syndrome.
I want him to check out my liver again and see if there’s any change, good or bad.
Also plan on going to a naturopath early Sept., mainly for the tests.
I’m sure it’s been discussed here and I could probably search for it, but, I wonder why a lawyer in the States hasn’t started a Class Action Suit. That might actually force Merck into finding a cure.
By the way, I would like to see liver problems (Gilberts’ diagnoses, etc.) added to the new member checklist.
Who else has Gilberts?

…and who knows if it really is Gilberts. I have reads so many bits and pieces here, it’s tough to remember it all… But, I’m sure I’ve come across some guys here with high bilirubin… whether it’s from copper, incorrectly diagnosed Gilberts, whatever… who knows.
I’ve read enough to believe propecia has messed with our livers.
I have gilberts syndrome, because I was suffering from hairloss, I took saw palmetto pills every day, and since that period my liver had issues, and the doctor said I had Gilberts syndrome
I dont remember if I had liver problems right after I took those pills but im pretty sure that SP is the one to blame, never thought “natural herbs” would be bad for the liver…
That’s what we get for reading internet articles put online to make money from clicks. When you’re talking about male favorites like increasing penis size, reducing prostate inflammation or preventing male pattern baldness hair then you’re going to have a lot of sudden experts reposting that advice even if its untrue, counter-productive or carries dangerous unmentioned side-effects. And there are many natural poisons, those were silly assumptions on our part. Extracts are even more dangerous than regular doses and because we’re impatient for results if we have a choice between the two we normally buy the extract.
