I haven’t found anybody else…
Me pretty much. I mean my sex drive was real low when i was on it due to being emotional numb and lowering my test a lil bit.
Yip, me. I suffered zero sexual sides but awful awful depression, anxiety, dizziness, panic, disorientation, visual problems, etc. I’m still dizzy and disorientated most of the time and have bad insomnia from time to time - 2 years after this all started - but no longer have the extreme depression or anxiety. Still, I’m no where near who I was before it all started. I fully believe this has everything to do with the disruption of GABA and other neurosteriods within the brain.
Umm, me too.
What side effects Markus?
This is right, demonstrating that there are two main pitfalls to using fin - neurotransmitter depletion and androgen depletion.
We knew this, but the issue that some get mental side effects without sexual ones says one thing - this “brain fog” isn’t primarily from a depressed androgen profile. This thread is good because it reminds us that
I’d be so bold as to say that if they have healthy adrenals and thyroids, it’s all neurochemical.
My post may seem redundant, but is important to remember - the chemical castration isn’t the only think that makes us into walking zombies, it’s this. And we need to start diagnosing and treating this, too. (I’m looking into GHB’s benefits…)
See I never had any brain fog, or if I did I didn’t find it to be my main concern. Whatever happened to me, it affected my speaking abilities and I guess my cognition. So when I used to walk into the office or speak to friends I would never think about the way I spoke, but when I had the problem I was always nervous or anxious that when I would speak I would fuck it up. Typically, I was better within conversations, but it was that first introductory line or question that really, really made me feel mentally retarded. All my problems happened within two days – I was perfect one day (and I took a couple videos which I still have as proof I guess) and then 48 hours later my speaking suffered. And like I said before, at this time I was already on Propecia for 19 days with no noticeable side effects whatsoever, so I still doubt that taking those pills on days 18 and 19 caused this.
What side effects?
I don’t know if its the finisteride, but I got chronic daily headaches and mental fog 2 years after taking it, and 2 years later after discontinuing it they haven’t abated.
Hey Markus…how long did u take propecia for? And how are u doing now?
i would add myself to this list. my physical side effects disappeared within 3 months but my mental ones (cycling chemical depressions) have gotten better but are still around 12 months out.
I definitely think this is due to neurochemical issues.
Yes, i have. What are your mental / emotional side effects? You can email me. Also what country are you in ?
You can add me to that list.
There’s a mushroom proven to help with the mental sides, I began taking it a few days ago and have already noticed clearer thinking.

Look up “Paul Stamets” or “Medicinal Mushrooms”.
Yes, I have only suffered mental side effects. It’s been 1 month since I quit. Constant brain fog, slowed mental processing (takes time to process what people are saying), poor short term memory, and difficulty with long term recall. My verbal fluency has gone down. I have never felt so bad in my life. I’m about to start crying.
I think the mental side effects might be similar to benzo withdrawal (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-acu … l_syndrome ). The effect on gaba seems quite similiar as well. We also have the indeterminate time frame, with around 6-12 months for the usual period of recovery.
While they’re not sure what causes this, the theory does involve GABA and neurotransmitters as well.
