Any full recoveries, anyone from Oz?

Hi guys,

I just found this forum and I must say a lot of your stories sound very familiar to me. I’m sure most of this has been covered, so I’ll just keep reading as sick as it makes me, but I would like to know if anyone who has had problems has since fully recovered? Naturally or with the help of supplements/drugs?

Also, has anyone had problems with fertility? Is anyone here from Australia and can recommend an understanding medical professional who knows what they are talking about?

Finding this forum has just woken me up from massive period of denial…

All the best fellas.

Yes, there have been some people that have recovered… from the old Yahoo group and also some guys from HairLoss sites.

For example, some had to use drugs such as Clomid/hCG to restart HPTA or go on Testosterone Replacement Therapy… but even then nothing is guaranteed.

I’m sure there are others out there who have yet to share their stories and may have recovered naturally, but it seems in most cases other drugs are needed to correct the issue.

Unfortunately there are also cases where people have tried such methods and still have not recovered… some current members of this forum are in this position right now, they’ve tried some drug treatments but have not responded, and are looking for the next option… everyone’s different and there is no way to know unless you try.

I believe these issues can be overcome, its just a matter of finding the right treatment that unlocks the door to recovery… the key is finding docs/endos that will work with you through this, which is easier said than done.

Fertility issues - this is different for all of us, but some have reported lowered sperm counts. There are also studies in the Finasteride Studies section of the forum that support this, although they claim it is only temporary while on the drug. Merck of course denies anything like this could happen.

I am from Australia. I am currently “seeing” Dr Crisler via “Virtual Office Visits”. He can help you on line. There is also Dr Bill Anton in australia who I think is in Melbourne, but dont quote me on that.

Dr Anton is the man to see in Australia as far as hormones go which IMO is the root of most of the issues we are all dealing with. Doctor Crisler is $300US for an initial consult, then $50US for each Virtual Office Visit thereafter. He is very knowledgable in male hormones and has experience with finasteride issues in the past.

Thank you guys, even though that’s not the response I wanted to hear… I am really worried about taking more drugs to correct a problem which drugs caused in the first place. Is an Endocronoligist best to see. I first discussed the problems I was having with an Urologist when I was on Proscar who told me not to worry the side affects would disappear. A year and a half later this is still not the case.

Surely there is enough of us to push for legal action or some sort of action to stop this from happening to others and to get some answers???

You need to see an anti-aging doctor, not an endocrinologist. Have you got recent bloodwork you can post for us to have a look at? You will probably need to take somthing to get yourself back on keel, its pretty rare that this stuff “just goes away” when you havnt tried to help it along. Dont be scared of all prescription drugs to get better. Finasteride is poison, not everything else is. You really need to fight fire with fire I think. Can you give us your latest blood tests or can you go and get some? Somewhere on this forum, there should be a sticky on what blood tests to request. Maybe under the blood tests section. If not, ask and we will point you in the right direction, but its very important that you get ALL the appropriate blood tests.

I will save you looking for the blood test results and post them here. Also get a full blood count with liver function tests…ect.

Thank you. I haven’t had anything done yet in the way of tests and probably won’t be able to for a few months yet. I’ve been dealing with so many other issues lately this has been put on the back burner but obviously I need to get on the case.

I really appreciate the advice and help. What’s the next step after the blood tests. Sorry for all the questions…

Next step after blood tests is trying to find doctors/endocrinologists that will be willing to work with you on these issues.

Easier said than done though, since most believe the drug to be harmless and claim everything is in your head/psychological.

Worriedsick, I will save you the run around that so many others have experinced. Forget Enocronolgists. Either go and see Dr Bill Anton in Melbourne (i think), or email Dr Crisler at Allthingsmale.com. Failing those two, go to a good anti-aging clinic in your area, but even some of these guys are only just starting to realise the devestating effects of this drug. You really need to get all of those blood tests done, or we really cant help you on that side of things.

Thanks again. I’m not in a position where I can get them done in the moment but will be back when I can. Take care.
