antibiotics make me feel better

Hi everybody,it’s a long time i dnt write on the forum… i 'm feeling much and much better than 1 year ago about mental and sexual sideeffects,i 'd say that now i can live and feel good…
in this period i had a stomachproblem and so i’m using a drug called ASACOL tu put it up fom my ass,i read that it 's a kind of antibiotic and since i’m using it my erections and my body is feeling more and more better…why antibiotics could give this effect on propecia suffers??
i remmber 19 had he same feeling when he was using antibiotics .
thank you ,bye !!

I wonder if its because some antibiotics raise your body temp. Higher body temp= more blood flow

People on this forum have also mentioned, when they got sick, thier symptoms went away for a while

Interesting. I have colitis and asacol never made me feel any better, but if it helps you feel better, that’s great. I don’t think it’s an antibiotic though. It’s more of an anti-inflammatory drug.

Who know why it makes us feel better. The blood flow issue that the other poster mentioned does make sense though. My doctor had been encouraging me to try Cialis. I could get erections, but really got no spontaneous ones and had problems finishing the job. So I tried it couple of times. The other day, I had several spontaneous erections and swear I felt marketedly better overall as well. I’m guessing increasing the blood flow improves other things as well.

Well this is pretty big if you’re saying you are mainly “cured”. I’ve been on Penicillin and really felt no differently. Did you have shrinkage? If so has that resolved as well? All things back to their Pre-Fin size?

Stomach/digestion seem more common with us than I had thought.

I think Cialis is probably a good idea. Thing is its very expensive and most insurance companies won’t cover it.

I know a lot of ppl have digestion issues here, and I wonder if they are just a symptom of the problem or may play a bigger role then we all think. With myself, when I drink alcohol almost 20 seconds after I drink the stuff my penis already feels numbness. The alcohol could only be in my stomach at that time. On the day after I drink, and thats usually once a month, and its only a few beers, my stool will look real bad unhealthy. Idk if thats with everyone or just me. Idk I’m just throwing stuff out there.

Maybe due to effects on 5AR2?

I took a cycle of Minomycin for a month and finished it a couple of weeks ago.
About a week in i noticed i was more horny and actually started getting spontaneous erections. While sitting at work or driving my car and i thought about sex, i would get an erection, and they actually took quite a while to go away. Even once i stopped thinking about sex, they would still last a couple of minutes.
It was really nice to have this happen, started making me feel almost like a normal guy again.
But seemed that in about the last week of it these effects started to diminish, so i had about a 2 week window of improvement…

Glad to see people are coming round to the idea. Been using antibiotics constantly for over 2 yrs doxycycline 100mg 2x a day. Still helps. I’m not cured and its effects wane if i stop but no doubt it helps and more importantly shows that things are reversible.

Helps with energy and sleep - effect varies - i’m still often not great.

Sexually helps more so. Penis looks more normal and sensitivity is much better although some way to go.

I am not sure why it helps yet.

Possibly due to doxycycline’s effect of inducing CYP450 enzymes in the liver? This may explain why it has somewhat limited success and why effects cease upon discontinuing.

Interesting but the question is why would that help?

Go to the p450 wikipedia article and you will see all the enzymes involved with the metabolism of hormones.

And read the other similar thread Oscar started.

Lyme disease?

19 so you have been on doxycycline for 2 years now, and the sexual benefits have not dissipated after a month or so like so many other things which seem to work but then lose their effectiveness??? If not thats is great to hear.
Besides your penis looking better and being more sensitive, what other sexual improvements do you have, does it help to maintain your erections?

It is very similar to minomycin though isnt it? I seemed to lose the benefits of this, but i only took it for a short time, and cant actually remember the dosage i was taking.

The sexual benefits fluctuate but are always better than without. Just tried to ween off again recently but found prostatic pain worsening and things drop.

Its still not great but it is better. Erections can be ok but its so variable that i can’t rely on it.

Fatigue is a main problem of mine and doxy only helps a little here.

Stopped doxycycline a week ago and now starting to get worse. It does help me a lot it seems. Stopped as getting a comprehensive list of blood tests done and didn’t want it to interfere. Since stopped noticed increased fatigue, poorer sleep quality, loss of any sexual function and muscle twitching.

simples… its prostatitis caused by bacteria fungus if you use antibiotics you kill bacteria… but after a while they return. you need eliminate calcifications and disblock the prostate first

I believe this might be the reason doxycycline is helpful:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15215045

Thus, elevated MMP-2, MMP-7, and MMP-9 activities in lateral lobe prostatitis correlate with leukocyte infiltration in the inflammatory response. These proteinases may help mediate the accompanying epithelial atrophy and tissue damage in this organ.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19826139

The MMP-13 activity was significantly reduced in doxycycline-treated compared with control animals at POD 8 (6740 +/- 2770 vs 10400 +/- 2930 relative fluorescent units [RFU], respectively; P < .02) but not at 4 weeks (3600 +/- 3280 vs 4530 +/- 2720 RFU, respectively). The healing enthesis of animals started on doxycycline preoperatively or at POD 5 had an increased load to failure compared to controls at 2 weeks (13.6 +/- 1.8 and 13.2 +/- 1.94 N vs 9.1 +/- 2.5 N, respectively; P < .01).

Doxy can decrease MMPs and therefore inflammation.

19, are you still taking doxy?

yes.
