Today I called my local compounding pharmacy to inquire as to the availability of dht cream as a possible less costly version of Andractim (I’m below basement levels). I had a hunch this wasn’t going to be available from what I have read but figure to see what they say anyway. The pharmacist said he had to make some calls and would call me back. A few hours later he called back and said that it was available at one time but not any longer. However, they are working on getting it “sourced” again. Not sure who “they” are. (I guess that’s encouraging though)
Anyway, he suggested that I consider “androstenedione cream” which is something that they can compound with a script. (I haven’t had time to research too much but I always think of Mark McGuire when “andro” anything is mentioned.)
So, does this help raise dht in anyway? Will it cause negative feedback? Thanks in advance.
Sorry to hear going through the compounding pharmacy for DHT cream didn’t work out for you as planned, hope they can get it “sourced” for you sometime soon.
It sounds like it would only raise DHT indirectly by raising testosterone first. Am I mistaken to say that your tested T levels are pretty good but you still have low DHT?
Problem is that it appears androstenedione can be directly converted to estrogen via the aromatase enzyme…
…and seems to be much more readily converted to estrogen than testosterone. (would likely cause shut-down)
Still doesn’t sound like something that would be of much benefit and I haven’t heard of many, if any, people who have used it to treat sexual or mental hypogonadism symptoms effectively.
Probably better off taking the doctor’s suggestions for treatment over the pharmacist’s in the end but it’s your call. Maybe mention it to Dr H to see what he thinks of it.
Yes, but getting it is a question mark. I plan to ask my Endo about it next apt. Not sure how he will respond to something I apparently would have to buy via internet. Is this legal in the US? (If so, if anyone knows a reliable source, shoot me a PM)
