All you problems related to finasterid are caused by DHT deficiency. Some of the side effects might not be reversible, but I doubt it. What I’ve experienced on the other hand, is like many of you, that things doesn’t always go back to normal when you quit the drug. I was on full dose for 4 months, before I quit. 6 months later it was still far from normal. Today I’m using a low dose of finasterid, but it’s still very potent, and I need androgenic steroids to manage the heavy side effects. The only reason I’m writing this is because I know how hard it is. Ask your doctor for androgenic steroids if you don’t already have. You have two options; Andractim (gel) and Proviron (tablets). The gel is artificial DHT, and the tablets are as close to artificial DHT as you get orally.
Loss of DHT while on the drug is certainly a factor in our condition, but it’s likely not the only one considering the drug impacts more than just DHT.
Right, so since you’re still taking the drug, this isn’t really the forum for you. Please post on hairloss sites if you plan on continuing the medication despite your issues.
Appreciate the info you’ve provided on Andactrim & Proviron, however many here are already aware of these options, so it is nothing new.
Doctors don’t just hand this stuff out like candy, you know. You should feel lucky if you have a doc willing to prescribe such medications with no questions asked.
Furthermore, if you are taking synthetic DHT while taking Finasteride (which inhibits 5AR2/DHT), you are just putting DHT back into your body. If your concern is to reduce DHT for hairloss, this “solution” makes no sense.
The body needs DHT to maintain certain functions. As far as I know, finasterid doesn’t do anything more than inhibiting conversion of testosteron to DHT, which in some cases leads to DHT deficiancy and causes several problems.
My hair is important, so I’ll do anything I can to keep it. That’s why I’m still using the drug. I’m using andractim to counter the side effects, and it works. The fact is that many use finasterid without any side effects. In some individuals the drug suppresses too much DHT, and steroids can be used as a supplement to elevate the hormone level as much as needed.
I’ve no interrest in this forum. I just wanted to share what I know. I’m convinced that steroids are the answer to your problems.
Yes, we know this. It also needs a functional 5AR2 enzyme and associated metabolic pathways to carry out other vital processes throughout the body.
Then you have not done your research. Finasteride also interferes with the 5AR2 reduction of Progesterone --> Allopregnanolone, and DHDOC -->THDOC, both vital neurosteroids which act on GABA-A receptors in the brain… reduced levels of these neurosteroids are implicated in mood problems, depression and anxiety, commonly reported side effects by Finasteride users.

Great, your concern for hair is greater than that for your overall health. Good luck.
By taking external DHT, you’re also negating the effects of Finasteride… putting you back to square one in terms of DHT levels in your body (is, baseline or higher). This is pointless if you are trying to hold onto your hair.
Nobody denies that fact, so not sure why it is a part of your argument. We here are in the minority that experienced an adverse reaction to the drug which manifested after quitting.
Again, if you are taking Fin to lower DHT to keep hair, taking external DHT would negate the anti-DHT effects of Fin… making it pointless to take external DHT while on Fin.
Great, thanks for stopping by. Good luck with your therapy.
