The Reputation Institute’s annual list of America’s Most Reputable Companies is out. And Merck ranks No. 126.
Here’s Forbes’ take:
“J&J made a smart move back in 2002 when it launched the Campaign for Nursing’s Future with TV ads, scholarships and fundraising for nursing programs that addressed the nationwide nursing shortage. The campaign further enhanced J&J’s reputation as a company that cares most about healing and patient care… Contrast that with Merck, down at No. 126 on the list, a brand that doesn’t resonate with consumers except perhaps, as the maker of the tainted arthritis medication Vioxx, which the company pulled in 2004 after it was associated with heart attacks, strokes and blood clots.”
