Am I another victim?

Hi Guys

Since English is not my first language, I apologize for any grammatical errors in advance.

So, I’m a 19 year old, east indian male, entered MIT last year as an international student. Started on propecia 3 weeks back. For the first week everything seemed to be normal, except for loss in libido and mild ed, which my derm said may occur and will subside in 1 or 2 months. After one week I noticed some change in my behavior, I used to be very happy and charming guy, always chilled out and super cool, but after taking propecia for 1 week I WAS CRYING FOR NO REASON!!! I may sound stupid, but its true! I had some pain under my nipples, which I found is possible.

Recently I took an IQ test and my IQ turned out to be 106 (3 test average). Weird thing is I’m MENSA INDIA MEMBER, I SCORED 143 IN MY LAST IQ TEST WHICH WAS 1 YEAR BACK!!!

This justifies why maths seem difficult to me now. I am totally devastated!!

When I talked about this to my dermatologist, he laughed and said “Seems like MIT curriculum is driving you crazy”!!

So, friends please tell me is this possible? Can finasteride lower IQ? Can it cause depression? Is there any source(studies etc.) which confirms my doubts.
I’m 99% sure that finasteride has something to do with it!

I’d rather be bald than being less intelligent!

Drug alters Androgen/Estrogen ratio in some men, hence warnings of gynecomastia (male breast development)… elevated estrogens in men can also cause depression, emotional mood swings, and more feminine-like behaviour (crying for no reason)…

In other words, it is a feminizing drug, it’s even been used in male–> female transexual hormone therapy.

Recommend you get off it ASAP if you don’t want this to continue.

And I am assuming he should stop cold turkey i.e. right away, ay? I remember reading something on the forum about weening off and how that was the preferred method to stop to reduce side effects post usage.

Re-read the FAQ, section 5. Nobody can guarantee that “weening off” will make any difference since we can’t go back in time to verify that. And since drug has near-flat dose response anyway, its basically impossible to ween off. This question has been asked numerous times in this sub-forum already, do some research in advance.
