All my bloodtests (from January till now).

Well,

In a few days I´ll go to get another hormonal tests done and I would like to know if I should add anything else.

My first hormonal tests were these:

Testosterone: 2.8 ng/ml (3-10)

TSH: 1.6 mcu/ml (0.1-3.5)

FSH: 4.5 mUI/ml (1.5-7.0)

LH: 6.8 mUI/ml (1.5-7.5)

Prolactin: 16.6 ng/ml (2.0-11)

SHBG: 11.5 nmol/ml (12.0-75.0)

FAI (Free Androgenic Index): 84.4 (50.0-140.0)

Estradiol: 30.0pg/ml (men inf. to 40)

DHT: 0.80 ng/ml (0.25-1.00)

Free testosterone: 12.5 pg/ml (9.0-47.0)

Estrone: 91.0 pg/ml (30.0-90.0)

DHEA-S: 2.3 mcg/ml (1.5-6.5)

Cortisol: 16.8 mcg/dl (5.0-25.0)

Progresterone: 0.7 ng/ml (0.3-0.

Albumin: 4.6 g/dl (3.5-5.5)

Free T3: 2.5 pg/ml (1.5-5.0)

Free T4: 1.3 ng/dl (0.7-2.2)

I was thinking about getting all these done again. Should I add anything else? PSA perhaps?

Thank you.

Check the blood tests section and cross reference what you DONT have listed.

Well, here is an update on all my hormonal blood tests. I´d appreciate some advice. Thanks.

July 2007:

FSH: 2.48 mui/ml (1.5-7.0)

P.S.: In July I tested my cholesterol and triglicerid levels, etc:

Triglicerids: 377 mg/dl (30-170)
Cholesterol: 205 mg/dl (120-200)
HDL Cholesterol: 26.7 mg/dl (in men more than 45 mgrs/dl

G.P.T./A.L.T.: 51 U/L (0-41)
Gamma GT: 24 U/L (11-49)

As you can see, my cholesterol, etc values are quite low…probably due to my sedentary lifestile and high in fat diet.

I´m still suffering from low libido, no morning erections (when they rarely occur, they are not as strong as before), erectile dysfunction, feeling of cold in the genital area.

Well, that´s all. Any advice on the above will be really appreciated.

Thank´s.

Your Prolactin is out of range! You should get that down, I believe Dr. Shippen likes to keep it between 3-5 for men. There are drugs like Bromocriptine and Cabergoline that are used to bring down elevated Prolactin levels… or try natural supplements like Mucuna Pruriens and Vitex (Chasteberry at a high dose, ie 480mg), but don’t expect miracles.

Also your Estradiol is near the upper limit, you should also try and get that down to 20-30… again natural supplements like DIM or drugs like low-dose Arimidex could help.

Your Total/Free Testosterone is very low, I believe if you could lower both E2 and Prolactin you may see some improvements in libido/erections etc.

Are you seeing a Dr or getting your labs drawn from online resources?

Any ceritified Endocrinologist with an MD would see your Prolactin levels high and T low and would get an MRI of your Pituitary gland done.

Please don’t start treating yourself with meds that are used for treating pituitary tumors such as Bromocriptine.

Please see a certified Endo (regardless how useless everyone says they are) and request a Pituitary MRI. Hell I had one even with normal Prolactin levels. Your problem may very well be corrected with actual Medical science.

Good luck
Jack

Hi Jack,
well, I´ve been with many doctors (endos, etc). They told me prolactine levels might be high because I was nervous, tense, etc when I got my lab tests done.

I have an appointment with one of them in two weeks time, I´ll ask him about thePituitary MRI.

I got my first lab test done by my own, I mean, I went to a lab, paid more than 500 Euros (more than 500 dollars) and they did the hormonal blood tests done for me.

I´m not treating myself with any meds at all, only natural stuff (maca, multivitamins, etc). I have only tried with a prescription of testosterone gel. The doctor I was with told me to try it so I did it for a month and a half but I stoped. I found out about the possible side effects and got scared.

Regards.

Hi,

The thing is that, since all the lab tests that I have show high prolactine levels, I´m thinking about how to lower prolactine levels naturally.

I have been told that prolactine can be lowered by a raise in dopamine levels. Is that true?

In two weeks I have an appointment with a doctor and I will ask him again about this prolactine leves, but I want to see if there is a way to lower it naturally.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys.

I gave you some options a few posts above.

Yes. Mucuna Pruriens is one such herb which contains L-dopa, the natural precursor to Dopamine. Some Parkinson’s Disease patients have had success using it to boost their dopamine instead of using drugs. I’d start out with very small doses if you decide to try it, just to be safe.

You could also try L-Tyrosine, another Dopamine precursor.
