I am not sure youth makes you more likely to get PFS. I started fin at 24 and, after an initial increase in libido, started to get sides like lowered sex drive and a bit of weight gain which I can only see now in hindsight. However, I always ‘recovered’ whenever I ‘quit’ (ie when I ran out of pills). It was only hitting my 30s that PFS nailed me, so I don’t think youth had anything to do with it.
I do wonder why more guys who took fin for BPH don’t turn up here. I can only recall reading one post from an older BPH proscar user on this forum. There must be something in this; this site is very easy to find if you have proscar side effects and I don’t buy the argument that older men just accept ED or are internet illiterate. That may have been the case 10 or even 5 years ago but not now. Plus there are users on here in their 50s and 60s who took it for hairloss. Going by the Topix page on proscar sides there are a few men complaining of long term effects, but not many considering how many millions more men use it for that.
Could it be that men who had enlarged or infected prostates already and took finasteride for medicinal rather than cosmetic reasons were less likely to be permanently damaged?
