Advice Needed

Hello everyone, I would like to begin by saying I know this forum is not intended to help people such as myself, but I am in desperate need of advice from people who are knowledgeable about DHT and the possible dangers associated with altering its levels. I am 17 years old and experiencing premature MPB. I initially intended to take Propecia until I came across this site and learned about the serious side effects reducing DHT can inflict.

I understand that DHT plays many roles in the body besides just being the root cause of hair loss; however, I have not been able to find information about the side effects (if any) of preventing the synthesis of DHT from testosterone in only the scalp, blocking the androgen receptor site in the follicle, and converting some of the Testosterone in the scalp into an estrogen. I am on the verge of trying Topical Spironolactone, which claims to work by doing all of these things, but after reading sites such as this I am hesitant to try anything for fear of possible health risks.

Many people I have consulted on various hair loss forums contend it has no side effects because, as they claim, it does not affect the amount of DHT in the rest of your body, just the scalp, and is not “systematically absorbed”; however, these same people often say that Propecia is relatively safe. I worry this may have some of the side effects of Propecia or different ones just as serious. If anyone can direct me to or provide information regarding the effects of doing the things Topical Spiro claims it performs, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you for reading, and I apologize if I angered anyone by posting my question here.

First thing is that nothing is guaranteed to not give you adverse side effects so no one can guarantee you that nothing will go wrong on Spiro.

Realisically though, I have never heard of one person complain of any issues similar to those from DHT inhibition. They dont work on you systemically and thats the big thing.

I would say give the spiro a shot but under NO circumstances start taking finasteride or saw palmetto or anyting with saw palmetto in it - check the ingredieents as you might be surprised how often it pops up in different concoctions (is that how its spelt?).

I cant speak for everyone but I dont mind answering any questions youv got about this. I will sleep easier at night knowing one less person has to go through this nightmare.

Im sorry i dont have any “proof” of what ive just told you as in a scientific thread, but go and read through the posts on Anabolicminds about finasteride and theyve also got info on topicals to use. Its in the anti-aging section.

Best of luck…and dont listen to those guys on hair loss forums, they are just in denial and moreso are just not as filled in on how hormones work in your body as what we are here. We have been forced to study this stuff hard and trust us, they dont know what they are talking about.

I’m sorry but after reading the advice you gave Josh Black I have to laugh at that statement.

Fair call. Everyone’s entitled to an opinion. But I still say that collectively we know more about what this drug does to your hormones and hormones in general than what most on hair loss forum who are popping finasteride like they are lollies.

And I still say JoshBlack has got issues with his HPTA. Not everyone performs at a 500 T level. Every body is different. Does what you say mean also that if he was say…400 and within range, that he would be “fine”. Even though men are at there optimum at 800?

Can you also explain to me why some men with a Total T level of 250 have no libido or erection problems whatsoever? I would say it is because again everyone is different and the fact that most doctors realise that finasteride lowers T in men, this is common knowledge, that a 500 level might be the problem and he may in fact be hypogonadal.

An 800 T level is optimal ? You won’t find many people witha natural t level of 800 that’s for sure. 800 is a level people shoot for on TRT.

Like i said no Dr in America is going to treat a 512 T level that will be close to 600 taken at 7:30 am

You do realize TRT is for life, correct ?

I don’t believe t levels have very much to do with long term propecia suffers problems, if it were that simple it ould be a quick fix.

I alos didn’t mean to jump down your throat but TRT is no joke. If you are on it for a few years (probably even less) you have no choice but to take it for life.

See my resposne on Joshblacks thread that we are talking about. I dont want to hijack this guys thread.
