Advice for Finasteride user

Hi, I’m new and found this forum after a search. I’ve been using 1mg Finasteride for some years and didn’t have had any symptoms up until recently and not sure if these are connected. I’ve been developing poly neuropathy (possibly small nerve) and no clear cause is known currently.

Do you suggest stopping using Finasteride? Or could this cause the problems/symptoms I’ve been reading about?

Thanks

H.

Looking at this study its unlikely

It doesn’t seem to be a common issue related to finasteride but with a little time searching the internet you may find some form of link.
As to keep taking it or not that’s a decision that should be discussed between yourself and your doctor really in my opinion.
Sorry for the open ended answer but it’s easy to be bias and just start pointing the finger at finasteride but looking at the bigger picture this decision Could possibly cost you your hair or trigger other issues down the line its only right that someone with advanced medical knowledge should advise you on these matters.

when im honest to you : dont quit. when you stay on it you will have your hair and mild sides. i quit because i wanted to feel better. and now ? now i have pfs. i think quitting is the issue. thats how you get pfs. so never quit fin pls

you shouldnt have taken it at all. but its too late.

and imo pfs is a general problem with finasteride. but all the hair loving men wont quit it because of mild sides. cause it saves their hair. thats what saved merck. im sure when everybodys taking fin right now would quit the drug cold turkey , we would have 100.000 members. i quit because i was scared to get impotent and cant have family then.

I’ll give you the answer I wish someone would hav told me: QUIT. Your mental and sexual health is more worth than a couple of hairs, save your money for a FUE transplant if hair is so important to you. But rather spend som cash on a therapist ha help that person make you realize hair is not important. There are other ways to feel good about yourself and look good. Hell, get a gym card! I don’t know if it is sides from finasteride, but anyway don’t risk it. Throw away the pills or you risk ending upp here, just as desperate as all of us. PFS is no game, its a severe worsening of your life quality, possibly a permanent one. Think carefully before continuing.

Hi there hvaan

@Baz44uk, @Milando97 , and @Tommyz have pretty much got most bases covered here.

Seek medical advice (although your health care professional may be unaware of finasteride’s potential for harm), be aware of the risks that come both with taking it AND with stopping. I think that it is right that guys are also advised of the risks attached to stopping the drug, as some here would trade the side effects (or lack of them) they had whilst on the drug rather than the position they are in now. There is no cut and dried answer, a bit like how finasteride may or may not effect you. It does appear however that despite its potential to cause persistent harm, most men appear more robust to this potential, but in saying that it is a much more invasive drug than you were led to believe. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Just as a final note, as a moderator I should advise that the forum is designed for those who have experienced persistent side effects after discontinuing the drug, although we’re a friendly place and more than happy to field such queries.
