I am writing on behalf of my dear husband. He is currently hospitalized with an unknown and painful condition… and it has been asked if he has been exposed to estrogen. We couldn’t think of anything, and then I remembered he had been takng propecia a while back and things seem to be clicking into place…
) How did you find this forum? Searching on google about propecia’s effects on estrogen

How long did you take Finasteride? My husband took it for about a year and a half
-
How old were you when you began taking Finasteride, and how old are you now? 31 and 33
-
When did you discontinue taking Finasteride (weeks, months, years), and how did you quit (cold turkey or taper off)?
quit cold turkey when I quit my job in january- all the luxuries had to go and meds that were “cosmetic” didn’t make the cut. -
What type of Finasteride did you use – Propecia, Proscar, Fincar or other generic – and what dose did you take (eg. 1 mg/day, 1 mg every other day, 1.25 mg/day, etc.)? Propecia, not sure of the dosage
-
How long into your use of Finasteride did you notice the onset of side effects? About a year… give or take

What side effects have you been experiencing? Abdominal pain and possible endometriosis. This is a condition usually found only in women… but my husband has been displaying symptoms and propecia could be the link we were looking for. The only documented cases in men seem to be men who were on estrogen therapy for prostate problems. Now that we know about propecia, this could help us finally get a diagnosis for my husbands condition. We have been through surgeries and a year of terrible emotional, and for my husband physical pain. Doctors keep suggesting rare cancers, but so far, every biopsy has come back negative, and we are not further on our way to getting treatment. Just more scars and painful surgical recoveries. This time, my husband has been hospitalized since new years eve trying to figure out what is wrong with him. I hope we get answers soon. I am posting to this forum because I am so interested in the potential effect estrogen has played in my husband’s condition. Has anyone else had experience with this or heard of it happening?
The more specific you are, the better; however, if you are uncomfortable discussing details about your problems, a broad classification will suffice – for example, gynecomastia, sexual problems, fatigue, increased hair loss, frequent urination, etc.
- Have you taken any drugs, supplements, or vitamins to treat your side effects, and if so, have any been useful? No.
