A message to the family of Dr Daniel M. Stewart

This might be a long shot but I wanted to write a message to any relatives of Dr. Daniel M. Stewart who may read this forum.

First and foremost, I’d like to offer my sincere condolences for your loss. His death is so unnecessary and tragic, and because we all relate with what he went through, his passing is felt globally even though we didn’t know him personally.

Secondly, I understand you will be experiencing a great amount of grief, but I have an idea which I’d like you to consider. I have recently posted on the social media website Reddit (http://www.reddit.com) to try to raise awareness about side effects related to Propecia:

Unfortunately I’m struggling to get any traction and some people are skeptical about my claims. My idea is that if someone who was close to Daniel wrote an AMA (Ask Me Anything) here: (http://www.reddit.com/r/ama) about his condition and death, it could do a lot to raise awareness and gather support, either by people donating to the foundation or signing the petition. AMA’s about Propecia have been done before and been relatively successful (http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/fuhxi/iama_22_year_old_male_who_suffers_from_permanent/) and I believe that often a personal story is all it takes for people to sit up and take note, e.g. the case of Matthew Shepherd who was murdered because he was gay, leading to hate crime legislation in his name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Shepard

To other members of this forum, if anyone is in contact with any of David’s relatives personally and can find a way to pass this message on, please do so and let’s make this happen. I think this is a good time to act, especially as the petition at MoveOn closes in on the 500 signature target, so pressure on Merck is really mounting: http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/merck-fund-studies-into
