A global map of Propecia side effects

I’ve spent a lot of time these last few weeks putting together a global map of side effects, as reported by members of this forum. Above is an image of it, for the interactive link:

The fundamental purpose of this map is to show how widespread PFS is in a visually effective way, which may help convince skeptical doctors, family members or journalists.

You can click any of the cases and learn and a bubble will pop-up with reported side effects. If you click ‘Website’, you will be linked to the topic I sourced the report from. I’ve also mapped known suicides attributed to PFS (in black) and the study centres in Boston and Houston (in green).

Although I tried to map as many cases as possible, my target was 1,000 and I’ve reached it. Bearing in mind that there are 3,000+ registered members but over 1,000 accounts without a single post, I consider it quite thorough. That said, if your case isn’t mapped and you’d like it to be, let me know. In addition, quite a lot of people either did not include their location or were quite vague, e.g. USA, Europe. I have mapped those cases but the location isn’t accurate. If you see your name and want to change the location of the pin, please let me know.

Please share this map as much as you want, as it is entirely free and open. I’ll update it periodically.

You can find your user name on if you click << at the top right. If you’re not comfortable with having your case mapped, let me know and I can delete it. Any errors, let me know and I’ll fix them.

Indeed. Aside from the hours it took to do this, it took quite a toll on me reading each case and absorbing all of the pain and suffering.

I’m so relieved it’s finished.

Fair play man.its a great piece of work.clearly lays out just how global this scandal is.
Brings home to people that guys everywhere are affected and no one is safe.fair play.
I hope this thing gets taken off the market.its not a help to people,it’s not a drug,it’s a fucking weapon,a toxic piece of matter that is not much different to rat poison for humans.

If this poison taken off the market just one month we would have sooo much more pfs victims. And it will be mercks end. Thats why theyre hiding truth and defending so much. They did a mistake and now they know it, they must keep going to sell or pfs bomb will explode.

Good point: at some point awareness of the dangers of Propecia will reach a point where wives and girlfriends will start pressuring their men to quit the drug. And then, many of those men who never had any trace of PFS, will develop the condition.

That indeed will be an epidemic.

And right in the middle of Merck trying to sell the drug off to some overseas pharma company.

A few of the cases on the map are actually women (girlfriends, wives, mothers) asking for help on behalf of their male relative who is on Propecia.

Deleted a few due to requests. Happy to oblige with them but it does diminish the effectiveness of the map.

interesting that the biggest study on propecia was done in Japan where almost no cases of PFS are reportet on your map. The sudy also concluded there were no cases of sexual disfunction after discontinuation althouhg testing over 3000! men.

Seems that men with japanese heritage dont suffer fro PFS.

Yeah, the Japanese study is often cited by those who support Propecia. I have said before that since male pattern baldness is genetic, how can you confirm the safety of a drug in use of Caucasian males using data from Japanese men? You can’t.

Really great work nopecia can’t thank you enough for this. I’ve read that there are over 4000 reported cases in the USA and that’s just from those who know that their condition is linked to Propecia. As my symptoms worsened over time it took me 2 years to discover that propecia was the cause.

Some people just prefer to suffer in ignorance. Every sufferer can contribute in some way, even if it just means their name on a list, you can still contribute and add value to the cause.

Thanks Andy and thanks for the feedback. The map only illustrates anecdotal reports to this website. It may not be scientific but I think it’s effective. If I’d taken a look prior to taking propecia I wouldn’t be here.
