A doctor in the Pacific NW and hormone testing lab with international customers.

Since Sherman seems to have some interest in cancer research and hormones, at least according to his profile, maybe mention to him Awor’s experiement with demethyelating agents. If he’s up to speed with the latest cancer research he should know exactly what you’re talking about. Would be interesting to see if he thought we could apply it to a treatment for PFS even if he came up with a naturopathic treatment.

I am supposed to call for Dr. Sherman on Monday for a pre-appt. discussion.

I brought up methylation when when talking with the guy at the lab (the guy I mentioned previously). I believe that he, Dr. Sherman, and Dr. Zeoli have an understanding of methylation as it relates to our cases, but I will bring it up again.

tbone, others in the northwest, I do not know Jonathan Wright, but his book “Maximize Your Vitality & Potency” was the first book I read which a.) explained interactions of testosterone and various other hormones, and b.) cautioned against finasteride as a first line treatment for BPH (if I recall correctly, read many, many endocrinology books and articles since then).

Using the information from this book, I was able to insist to a urologist that he test testosterone, free testosterone, and estradiol.

I found his book helpful. I think he attends the same conferences as Shippen and Crisler.

I would suggest anyone in the northwest to give him a try.

Kaz - I called this clinic and spoke to the patient coordinator. They really wanted nothing at all to do with me when I said “Finasteride” and directed me back to this website. Would be nice if they were attempting treatment. She didnt even seem as though she wanted to schedule an appointment.

btw - I think tbone is in Penn at the moment. Duck might be the closest one of us.

Anyway, bump on this - Any word back from this clinic, Dr. Sherman or Dr. Wright, tbone?

update: I am ISO of both a naturopath/MD locally who will order the tests for me from Meridian Valley. I communicated with Dr. Sherman’s assistant who informed me that Dr. Sherman would treat me for post-FIN problems. however, I don’t have the $$$ ATM and I think I will wait until I get some health insurance or find a more economical way to get this ball rolling --rather than pay $220 for one telephone appt. with Dr. Sherman. I may consult with the NDs and MD at Tahoma Clinic at a later date when the means to do so exist.

I apologize for not updating you all earlier this week; I had a very serious problem for which I visited the emergency room. I’m sure some of you know that Finasteride has dried our bodies of essential lubricating substances which protect the joints and neurons (also the skin, eyes, etc.). My shoulder and upper back have never been in such neurolgical pain. it felt like ‘burning neuropathy.’ It persists today, but not as severely.

Would be interesting to hear what Sherman thinks about causes and treatments of PFS. Also, since he is attached to the clinic you’d think he would bring any PFS case up for peer review assuming they have such meetings. Alot of doctors there, would be great if he bounced this off 20 different doctors with different backgrounds. Thanks for following up and keep us updated.

i will put $220 on it after January 1st… I will call to make an appt

iwontgiveup: good to hear someone is trying. FYI, some local naturopaths can also order those Meridian Valley Labs tests for you. The 24-urine test is around $300.00. It is possible to get insurance to cover certain naturopaths when you are referred by an MD or your primary care doc, but the lab tests will likely just be $300 out of pocket.

I have to wait for now.

You’re planning to go out there or phone consult? If Sherman or anyone there is interested in trying to help us would be nice to get someone there in person. I realize this is impossible for alot of people.

i will do a phone consult sure.

f— if I know what I will be able. If i were an entact human, I would move to Europe or if I had health insurance that covered ND, or if lottery money… anyway, hoping to accomplish something for health before 2 years from now.

let us know what you’re up to. which tests will you be doing? just the 24-urine? the hormone/testosterone profile test? the other one that’s being developed now? please keep us updated.

I ordered the Testosterone metabolism kit from Meridian Valley Labs and it arrived today. cant ship off on a friday tho it has to be on a mon - thursday.

it costs $179 …

I will advise when I get the results

called them and they still dont have my results yet. once i have them and review i will reach out to the clinic if appropriate…

@i won’t give up:

could you tell us why you and the doctor you consulted with decided to skip the 24-hour urine hormone test and straight to the testosterone metabolites test?

i ordered it myself

O.K. that’s good news. waiting to hear if you found something useful. Do you think you will you consult with an ND and MD?
