5 Alpha Reductase - What actually is it?

Hi guys,

recently I wanted to research a little bit deeper into the topic 5 Alpha Reductase (what is it made out of? how does the body produce it? etc) but found no real facts except the things we already know. What I am really interested in is that every enzyme in our body is made out of protein (+ not always but sometimes a cofactor). But what is the exact case with 5 Alpha Reductase? Does anyone have information about what it is made of? Does it have a cofactor?

I know that Creatine elevates DHT without increasing T. This means that there has to be some kind of conversion going on (5 Alpha Reductase?). There was actually a study done on this but I guess most of you guys know that since some of you have already experimented with Creatine with only temporary success. But I am curious WHY Creatine elevates DHT. Does it trigger something or is it actually involved in the 5AR-reaction itself?
