5 alpha reductase has a role on digestion

Has anybody seen this? Maybe this can explain why so many of us have digestion problems. I found it on Wikipedia

“5α-reductases, also known as 3-oxo-5α-steroid 4-dehydrogenases, are enzymes involved in steroid metabolism. They participate in 3 metabolic pathways: bile acid biosynthesis, androgen and estrogen metabolism, and prostate cancer”

If this is true, then we are producing less bile, and have less acid to help digestion.

Bile acid is different from gastric acid. Bile being produced by your liver and stored in your gallbladder, gastric acid produced in your stomach. I just point this out because I still get heart burn from time to time.

But yes you are right, in this seems to point directly toward our digestive issues. I have them, liver pain too. Good find.

Yes, sorry i got confused on my text. Indeed, bile and acid are two separate things.
It seems bile is a important player in the digestion of fats.

Yes, just more evidence that something has altered 5ar2 production… If this involves the androgen receptor as Awor suspects has yet to be seen.

Not having a go at you guys, just showing how poor of a source wikipedia is.

Finasteride is effective at inhibiting 5beta reductase so there could be some merit to this line of thought(Incorrect bile acid biosynthesis).

There is plenty on the forum already,
