What (if any) treatments have you undertaken to recover from your side effects since discontinuation of the drug?

None. But my doctor back home gave me Gentaplex which is a supplement that boosts libido and wants me to go on Proviron once i’m Able to get it. (Have to get it from a different country)

If you have pre or post-Finasteride bloodtests, what hormonal changes have you encountered since discontinuing the drug (pls post your test results in the “Blood Tests” section and link to them in your post)?

Only had my testosterone tested which came back to be 2.73 with reference range of 2.27-10.3ng/ml. Taken about 7 hours after I woke up

Anything not listed in the above questions you’d like to share about your experience with Finasteride?

Tell us your story, in your own words, about your Finasteride usage and side effects experienced while on/off the drug.
Noticed side effects about a month and a half in, was completely impotent for a few days. Unfortunately, instead of stopping I just started taking 0.5mg which gave me weaker erections than before but still some kind, kept on hoping that my body “would get used to it” and things would work out. The last 2 months I said I’d try topical finasteride and stopped oral finasteride, didn’t see any improvements in side effects and stopped.
Sometimes I feel my erections got slightly better over time and libido. But base still feels weak with my erections always tilted downwards.
I also get very frequent wet dreams when I rarely ever got them before taking finasteride.

I saw another doctor in the UK before I came back home in April, he basically told me that the sides effects always go within a couple of month and it could be psychological and that since I’m not a teen anymore spontaneous erections can disappear -.- (I’m 22) The doctor back home only got my testo tested and told me to take Proviron.

Sorry if this was long, any advice would be appreciated. Especially considering I’ve read a lot saying increasing testosterone made it worse considering I will be taking Proviron soon.

It was my total testosterone that was tested

Hi Moarhelp welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your side effects. Testosterone can take up to 2 years to return to natural levels. This can be monitored with a blood test once every 3 months. You should check to see if Proviron will shut down or affect your natural testosterone. You may also look into the use of Clomid in the treatment of secondary hypogonadism this could be a better alternative to Proviron. This is not medical advice but maybe worth reviewing and discussing with your primary physician.

Depression can have negative affects on the brain https://www.healthline.com/health/depression/effects-brain#1
A device called the Alpha Stim is being trialed in the UK for the treatment of depression.

https://www.alpha-stim.com/2016/09/electric-shock-treatment-nhs-try-using-army-technique-giving-mild-electric-shocks-treat-depression/

I’ve used the device to great effect from http://www.themicrocurrentsite.co.uk/ especially in the winter months. You can sometimes pick up cheap used devices on ebay.

No affiliation to any of those websites.

Hope this helps!

What if I put my finger into the socket? Lol
Joking man! Cheers for the info

Thanks ac, but the depression is just do to the side effects, i’ll Have a look if things don’t get better.

I went to a urologist and he said not to take any kind of medicine, and if I needed to maybe I could go on TRT later (no chance i’m Doing that at 22). He also said there’s no cure and it causes irreversible damage but it could get better with time.
Going to have full analysis of blood tests including test as he said since it was taken at night my reading is pointless.

Went back to the first doctor and had more blood tests taken with test in the morning instead coming at 3.6 so a bit higher but still low.
Fsh and Lh were very low, with fsh being outside the range and lh just inside. My prolactin was at 33 with the range going up to 25.

I’m taking cabegroline for 6 weeks, will update on what happens.
