Xarelto Persistent Sexual Side Effects

It appears that the blood thinner Xarelto (rivaroxaban) may be causing a syndrome similar to PFS/PSSD. One guy reports his sexual symptoms to persist even 2 years after quitting the drug. His reported symptoms sound very similar to what we are seeing on this site. There even is a Facebook Xarelto Side Effect Support Group to help Xarelto victims.

Has any one heard of this, or have information to share regarding Xarelto persistent adverse reactions?

Any type of blood pressure or blood thinning drugs can pretty much cause similar symptoms to PFS and PSSD.

These drugs can be life saving but they should only be used in emergencies, not in situations where you can make lifestyle changes first instead.

Jesus christ. Patients at my hospital (and therefore MANY other large hospitals in my state) get prescribed this by default for venous thrombosis prevention while they’re admitted. However, they can refuse this default treatment.

@awor have you found any studies showing this drug has any kind of effect on androgen signaling or DHT inhibition?

I haven^t found much yet on the mode of action of Xarelto (it’s probably too new). However, the literature abundantly describes the link between blood coagulation, related diseases and androgen / androgen receptor. For example:

or (see last sentence)

Aspirin downregulates the AR and is often used as blood thinner. Given the above and that AR seems to play a key role in regulating coagulation factors, it seems at least plausible that Xarelto is somehow modulating the AR., specially given these PFS like symptoms.
