I really like the new website. But only 19 people have joined while the old yahoo site has 1090 members.
Yes, while there are over 1000+ members listed for the Yahoo group, only a small percentage (maybe 10%) post or are continously active in discussions.
As for the rest… who knows? They might have long abandoned the Yahoo group but not requested to have their account removed from the membership list. There really is no way of telling how many active users we truly have, other than by those people who post.
Also, the Yahoo group was formed in 2003 so it has been collecting members for the past (almost 4) years… this forum is only less than a week old!
Give it time… even if most of the active Yahoo group does NOT migrate here (and I don’t see why they wouldn’t, the whole reason people wanted a new forum was due to inability to track information/threads, message organizaton etc.), there will be plenty of NEW members signing up regardless as word gets out.
We’ll just have to wait and see! It really is up to the users to make this a vibrant community, if they are just going to continue to post in the Yahoo forum then what was the point of building this one after all?
i think we have to regularly “remind” the yahoo group to use this forum.
this is an awsome layout.
let me know if there’s anything you need help with… ie forum approvals, filtering, etc.
i will try to even post some of the old topics from the yahoo group.
thanks again for making this site! i will be willing to donate money to help keep this thing up also.
I think people will trickle in eventually, it may take time though.
I think the new site is great. thank you mew for working on this. I am a little dissapointed though in how many people are posting or replying to post. THe old site had tons of post on a weekly basis and this new one is barely active…where did everyone go??
I am involved in another support board on the yahoo forums. We have a similar membership although I have measured that less than 15% of them contribute to the online debate. I agree that the layout of this forum is far more user friendly and allows easier access to the information. It was becoming almost imposible for me to keep pace with the message threads on the old board. I suspect that when members become more familiar and confident in the use of this board’s features you will start to see the volume of posts increase.
Hi, what exactly is the nature of the support group you mention on Yahoo? Is it another group about finasteride related problems, or something different? Just wondering…
I am also involved with another Yahoo group the same as Welshermite.
As he, I also find the Yahoo boards at the moment almost impossible either to post and keep up with.
I am involved in another two boards also, one that deals with drug dependency and another that deals with spine surgery.
This is a HUGE improvement on the Yahoo boards.
Big congratulations to whoever got this setup and running.
I think and hope you will find that Welshermite and myself will be very helpful
Best,
Jacques
Finsides asked:- what exactly is the nature of the support group you mention on Yahoo? Is it another group about finasteride related problems, or something different? Just wondering…
It’s the British Prostatitis Support Association
Hello all,
There have been some changes to the forum structure in order to facilitate easier tracking of posts.
Just to be clear, NO POSTS HAVE BEEN DELETED! They have all been moved into their appropriate areas. There are now 4 sections instead of 7:
… Gynecomastia, Ejaculate/Fertility, Prostate and Genital Tissue Changes have all been merged into one of the above areas.
Also, in the TREATMENTS section: “Natural Supplements” now includes the “Diet & Excercise” sub-forum.
Hopefully this will make things easy to follow for us all!
Cheers.
Hi forummaster & people,
I think this forum is too scattered. It could be improved by doing only one discussion forum and only one threatments&protocols forum, since all the symptoms are connected with each other. Also there are awfully few posts in some departments. There are not that many people posting in here. Plus, now you have to go see over 10 places to get all the information.
The other topics are arranged well.
This is also a very slow forum…but there is not much we can do about that if we want to keep it free. I still prefer the Yahoo forum over this one. It makes my stress levels rise if I have to wait 5-12 (usually over 8 ) seconds for the forum to respond after any move I make…Yahoo works instantly.
I’m willing to pay for the cost of a better host. Forummaster, PM me if you want to take me up on the offer.
