Why do we even expect to ever be 'cured'?

A guy with low T doesn’t just get better - he is on testosterone for life.

A person that is hypothyroid doesn’t just get better - they need thyroid meds for life.

My point is, are we even being reasonable to expect to be cured and not need something to help us for the rest of our life?

My first thoughts are that with our symptoms you would expect TRT to work and we would all have to accept that we made a big mistake and will require TRT to function properly from now on, but as well all know that is not the case.

I am writing this just before i head out so i am trying to just get my point through in a concise manner. Do you understand where i am coming from?

I wish i wasn’t young and broke - i can barely even begin a proper investigation into what’s going on with my body.

I do not care if I have to take 20 pills a day for the rest of my life. As long as it stops my dick from rotting away, allows me to get half the desire for sex that I once had, and give mes 90% of the erection strength I used to have I will be happy. It will effectively restore my “manhood” at least in my eyes.

I am not personally looking for some type of one time injections and then I expect to be all better. To me, getting back to 90% of what I once was in all areas is a full recovery.

First off, I think the majority of guys here would agree that our issue is not necessarily related just to testosterone levels or thyroid issues; most of us believe the problem is something deeper. Thus, if you’re just talking about treating isolated issues, then sure, you’re a) not going to have much luck with treatment, or b) you’re going require medication the rest of your life. The study in Italy (viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5693) are both attempting to determine the underlying cause for our issues, not simply treat the symptoms, which is what you’re talking about.

Second, while it’s important to keep your expectations in check, our problem has indeed begun to gain attention from doctors, researchers, and the media. This is a good thing. And while a cure can’t be expected overnight, the fact that the right kind of people are increasingly getting involved should be encouraging.

Third, I agree with bluecloud: I’d much rather be on medication the rest of my life and feel somewhat better than suffer with the full brunt of the side effects. That said, if you can find some way to keep your symptoms in check while hoping for good news out of the studies, then I don’t see anything wrong with trying to find some relief – just as long as you’re not damaging yourself further in the process. I think TRT has roundly been deemed around the board as doing more harm than good, but there have been others who had had success in managing some symptoms with certain medications and/or lifestyle changes.

That’s all highly speculative, of course. Let’s figure out what happened to us before we go down this road.

Sure, of course. I’m not saying a cure or anything resembling it is anywhere close, as that’s obviously not the case; the first step, as you say, is finding out what the hell happened to us. My primary point is that treating isolated issues without knowing the mechanisms finasteride has affected won’t alone bring the 100 percent recovery the original poster seems to be looking for.

Calmpdown, you have completely misunderstood me. I am not looking for anything and the testosterone and thyroid were just examples of illnesses.

I just throwing my thoughts out there and seeing what others views are.

It’s not a new thought, but the horrifying thing about this whole mess is that here is no effective treatment.

It would be bad enough if we had to take TRT forever because of a hairloss pill, but we could at least get our heads down and get on with our lives, managing the symptoms.

Instead we have all the worst symptoms of low/no testosterone in many cases and have to put up with it in the interim, or commit suicide.

I think a lot of onlookers would just think, ‘that sucks, take Viagra’ or something. Or ‘go to the gym and lift weights’.

I can’t comprehend how tens, hundreds of thousands of men take huge doses of steroids, their balls often substantially shrink etc and they revert to normal. Or if they don’t, everything is fine with TRT. Of course steroids are ‘bad’ because they’re not owned by a deceitful dollar obsessed pharmaceutical company which has bought over the healthcare system in the US, and from there the world.

I don’t think we are broke, there are supposedly members on this site who have recoverd. However, some of these reoveries have been sketchy. I know I have been to two doctors who have claimed to have cured people, allthough they seem amibigious about the details. But, to me the most important point to consider is how come some of us including myself, after we stopped finaterside did recover within the two weeks even though it only lasted for a few days or even weeks and then we crashed. So we did recover for a short time period. Why didn’t our bodies maintain the recovery???

That’s how I see it too. What I cant figure out is how TRT has been shown in recent studies to be working in treating hypogonadals.

I have made significant recoveries about 5-6 times but they never lasted. One of them was full blown - i felt the best i ever had in my whole life.

I was a lot better befroe using Agel. I used it for 8 - 10 weeks, and still regret it. It made me worse. In the last week I was not able to walk , very lethargic. I body had had retained watner in my thighs, chest etc. After stopping it I never went back to the state of pre-Agel.
I dont thin Gel moved my total or free T moved up, all was going to estrogen.
This is big mystery why body is converting internal or external Testosterone to estrogen not DHT.Even DHT directly applied does not work at all for many users.

dont try to play with your hormones with drugs, i took just 1 pill proviron yesterday, i think it was changed my HPTA thing a little.all the things happening to us have absolutely no direct relation with hormonal balances…

25 - 50 mg Proviron a day doesn’t affect GnRH secretion. It’s backed up by studies. Negative feedback has been seen at 75+ mg a day.

Hormonal imbalance is a significant factor when it comes to PFS. That’s why Proviron works. Just try 25 mg a day for a week and see what happens… You’ll crash again when you suppress the estrogen level too much.
