Why do so few want to do anything about this?

Feel like venting a bit. But it’s also a genuine question.

The overwhelming majority of people here can do something. Whether that’s speaking out about this publicly, donating some money to research etc. Are our lives so cheap that we just take this lying down without doing anything? I could understand if the ratio was 30% active to 70% inactive. But to see tens of thousands do absolutely nothing as compared to a handful trying to move heaven and earth. It perplexes me. It makes no sense. The majority of British soldiers in WW1 were volunteers rather than conscripts. And this isn’t about some abstraction to be fought for on distant fields far removed from home. This is about our lives. We’re not willing to fight for our lives? To at least try?
