What if theres only a deficiency of 1 type of DHT

Many of us know that there’s two different types of DHT (some even say 3). We also know that Propecia only blocks type 2. My DHT level is above the reference range, yet I’m still having sexual problems…

I know that it is probably really hard to be able to find somewhere that tests for both types individually, let alone have a reference range for it. I feel it is a really big shame that the medical industry doesn’t go into such details, after all this is people’s health their dealing with, would it not make sense to be sure of everything and to have even the most specific tests available? even if it might seem mundane?

Type 2 is what generally causes sexual dysfunction, and is the type that is deficient in people born with 5-ar deficiency and live with intersexualism.

I know a lot of people on here also have normal or high levels of DHT but still have ED.

I am having a lot of trouble believing that the receptors are mutated or impaired, from what I can tell this only really happens in pretty extreme cases like cancer. Not only that but I haven’t even ingested the amount of half a month’s worth of propecia. Add to that the fact that my libido did in fact return to normal after I quit, but declined afterwards.

If yr DHT is high i suggest u forget about low dht beeing the cause of yr worries even if theres 3 different 5ar alltho i never heard that. More likely yr reason could be too much dht conversion causing yr free T to go low. Or too low/high estrogen? havent seen yr bloodwork or i cant recall them anyways.

Does the DHT have more of an effect on the negative feedback loop than pure testosterone?

I know DHT is something like 30 times more potent at the receptor site than testosterone is… but I wonder if this applies to the hypothalamus.
