Sudden Change

I have had major improvements in all areas over the last five days. Sleep has been excellent, morning wood five nights straight. Shrunkeness less. Testicular pain gone. I went to urgent care ten days ago and was given ciproflaxin for what was thought to be bacterial prostatitis. Has anyone out there experienced a sudden change for the better after taking anti-biotics? I have seen some threads out there, but they are vague as to the quality of improvement. It seems strange to have such a sudden change based on anti-biotics. I haven’t worked out, taken any supplements, or eaten extra healthy in three weeks either. Is this a honeymoon effect from the anti-biotic or will the change fade after the anti-biotic cycle? I know there is a contigent out there who believes the prostate is the root cause of our issues. This change of events in my case is somewhat convincing to me. Maybe the healing (even though maybe temporary) of the diseased prostate raises dht activity?

Yes on three different occasions I’ve taken antibiotics and had my erections return normal but it was short lived after I finished the bottle. It took a few days before I noticed a change taking the antibiotics. The only other thing that helped me get erections like this was a time i tried levitra but then i had side effects. I also tried vigrx and it helped with libido and erections after the first two weeks to about a few months then stopped working as good but even after I stopped taking I have better erections then i use to but the libido is still not there.

Why don’t yor retest your dht when your done and let us know if it has changed?

Interesting… What do you think the antibiotics could have done?

I am similarly in a very good patch at the moment, my very strange sleep sensations are gone, the vile flu like feeling I get a lot of the time is becoming very miled, and sexually things are almost great, even morning erections have been about

I’m getting the hormones retested at the end of the month.

I am very skeptical that my change will hold as this PFS syndrome/disease seems very resilient. However, it seems strange that ALL areas have improved, not just erections. Sleep, libido to some degree, mental clarity, etc etc. I feel less estrogenic, less bloated. I took my last of the ten day cycle of cipro yesterday. I guess I’ll see what happens over the next few days/week.

These events do make me doubt the genetic alteration theory. At least in my case.

Joe,

I don’t know what effect the anti-biotics are having, but since bacteria was effecting the prostate and this has cleared that up, the prostate must be functioning at a higher level. Some have theorized that the anti-biotics act as an anti-inflammatory and that is the reason. I don’t agree because I have used ibufrofen for a few weeks after my crash and it didn’t do much.

.

A number of affected men experienced a short period of recovery after administrating ciprofloxacin or other antibiotics. Ciprofloxacin is known to significantly alter protein levels in both directions through changes in gene expression rates over a broad range of target genes (1). This could indicate that a change in proteins which regulate AR expression levels allowed for a short lasting “recovery” phase, giving further support to the hypothesis that some form of misguided AR negative autoregulation mechanisms lie at the root of this problem.

You have to look at the whole picture. There is no way that the prostate could sufficiently influence global DHT levels to cause suicidal depression, gyno, etc. After all, DHT is an intracellular hormone, right? Also, no matter what happens to DHT, it wouldn’t cause muscle wasting because DHT is not involved in maintenance and growth of muscle tissue. Last, if fin damaged the prostate, and that was the only problem, then quitting fin and having the androgens come back would bring things back into line. Don’t you think so?

Unfortunately, the problem is likely much more complicated than most people tend to think.
