Spirolactone/topical finasteride.

Has anyone here got side effects from topical finasteride?

Typically it should do the same thing right? I know you guys are very anti-finasteride with good reason, but it there anybody on here who has actually tried topical finasteride?

Also , has anyone used Sprirolactone 5%?
I hear this doesn’t yield any side effects, I know this isn’t a hair loss forum but I want to get off finasteride and spiro seems like good idea.

Anyone?

i dont see what the difference would be -

finasteride on your scalp - that wouldn’t do anything.

it needs to get into your bloodstream so it can inhibit 5-AR.

fin doesn’t do anything to DHT, it inhibits 5-AR so that it doesn’t get created in he first place…

unless it is absorbed by your scalp, then gets into your blood, but i’d think that’s the same as taking the pill itself?

I’m curious about spiro as well. They say it just prevent the DHT from binding to the follicles in the scalp, which sounds good.

I asked on a hairloss forum, but they were all pretty skeptical because it’s not “FDA approved” as a treatment for hairloss, but I think everyone on this forum has their own opinions on FDA approval.

If you do try spiro, I’d be curious to hear about it. I know this isn’t a hairloss forum, but PM?

Yeah, kinda like discussing democracy in China, keep it on the hush!

I think the prevailing notion is that any fin touching your body is bad news, since it can and probably will get absorbed into the body and bloodstream. Happens with minoxidil.

Minoxidil contains Finasteride?
I never knew that, I was just looking into it.

Incidentally, I’m based in China currently. I don’t really censor myself, but I don’t say anything that might make me look like I want to start a movement or anything. It’s a bit like you wouldn’t joke about plotting a terrorist attack in the US.
That said, political discussions can be very sensitive, so I just generally steer clear for the most part.

No one gets my humor.

No, minoxidil does NOT contain finasteride, but it is a topically-applied drug THAT CAN BE ABSORBED BY THE BODY. So if a topical is absorbed by the body system, it will have an effect in the body, not just externally.
