Sorghum increases 5a-reductase!

I can’t seem to find this anecdote of someone crashing after taking sorghum.

Sorghum should be eaten as grain like normal food, I mean like eating any beans, no pills, also people do crazy thing and when the crash come they blame sorghum or other supplement that maybe it is not the cause.
But I recommend to be 101% sure that it is not a DHT inhibitor before to get into it. and if it is a promoter the amount should be carefully regulated.

Demon

Find a reliable source, http://anabolicapex.com it is not.
find a real study.
I found 2 studies but contradict each other.
This one said that is an ihibitor

This one said that increased DHT

You need to download the pdf file and look for s. bicolor it mean sorghum bicolor.
This last study seem more robust, but we need another study to confirm it.

So there are different grain sorghum varieties with different amounts of polyphenols and plant-sterols which give them their distinct colors. Sorghum flour is usually made with white or yellow varieties which probably means they could have fewer antiandrogenic compounds. The first article was testing an extract made from a specially cultivated variety of sorghum “Donganme” developed by the National Institute of Crop Science of Korea for higher antioxidant content and yield. Its seeds are notably more darker red compared to a naturally red cultivar in Korea.

For the second article, they didn’t specify which sorghum variety was used.

Yes It does, both article used the same "sorghum bicolor " ( S. bicolor ).

Again that graph don’t tell me anything it is in the last research that I found.
Any other research ?

Correct me if I am wrong, but sorghum bicolor is the species and there are different cultivars of the grain.

Yes there are others, but in both research the used the same S. bicolor, one say that it is an inhibitor another say it it is a promoter.

The first article is investigating a new sorghum, as per the article I linked, using an extract of a special cultivar called “Donganme,” bred in 2012 by the National Institute of Crop Science in Korea. The seeds have a deep red color and have much higher antioxidant content.

Compared to the sorghum used in my Bob Redmill Sorghum flour which gives off a very light beige to yellow color. There seems to be big difference between the two. I can only assume the variety used in my the flour is the same common variety investigated in the second article.

So yes they both fall under sorghum bicolor, but there are different varieties of it.

Here is the source of that graph.

Do you really believe in a blog ? I believe in medical studies publications and sometimes I doubt about it.

Sorry, I will do a new member post, but right now this is more important for me. Yesterday evening I ate some sorghum (bought from a health store), following the instructions on the pack and eating it like porridge. When I went to bed, I noticed that my sexual side effects seems to have worsened, going back to how they were maybe a year ago. Back then I could barely manage an erection and when I did it didn’t last long. I have improved since then without getting close to pre-PFS. The only other things I did different yesterday to normal was I had a tablespoon on baking powder in water to see how that affected me (seemed to improve my concentration) and I have been eating dessicated liver tablets for the past couple of days on top of my usual multivits. Last year I experienced a bad reaction to creatine, which also spike DHT. So if sorghum is the cause of the sexual regression, what does that mean for my PFS? And is there something I can do to counteract the effect of the sorghum, some other food or supplement to lower DHT to see if that brings improvement?

I got PFS from taking 1mg of finasteride per day for 2 months and crashed around 13 months ago. I will fill in my member story, but right now I am freaking out a bit about getting worse.

Research is going on … Eating something Natural in your Diet won’t harm … So at least you can give it a try

Natural things can be harmful. Much as some people have allergies to common foods, some people here have had their sensitivities changed through their experience with prescription drugs.

I eat been eating sorghum for a few day to see any reaction or crash, and nothing bad happened yet, my libido, erection and mood are not affected.

I crash with Creatine before, in my opinion anything that rise suddenly DHT cause a reaction to our brain that is already adapted to a very low levels of DHT.

Seem that PFS is a reaction to a suddenly increase of DHT.

I have megadosed zinc for the past 4 days (90mg per day) to try to counteract the DHT spike. I cannot say if the zinc is responsible but I do seem to have returned closer to my pre-sorghum baseline

what were the symptoms of your crash?

I used to eat sorghum - made pancakes out of the flour and ate the boiled grains with butter. Can’t say I noticed any difference.

I would add that creatine made me crash, r-andro made me suicidal. But hcg+trt has helped a lot. Not sure what to make of it
