Side effects after stopping Adex just like after stopping Fin

whether you deplete Estrogen or Androgen , the results are the same: osteoporosis, weak muscles, memory loss, double vision, poor appetite, weight loss, low vitamin D, loss of sex drive, breast tenderness, neuropathy, insomnia etc etc, And even virginal dryness and bleeding just like some us have penile bleeding. These sides are 100% like that of after fin use.
you will be surprised that these side effects occured after stopping Adex, just like fin and some patients are saying that body is resisting to returning Estrogen. Also they are vitamin D deficient too and they feel better after taking Vitamin D

I have been off the drug since May 2007 and have these side effects, a heavyness in my chest, hot flashes, feeling of a sore throat and ear infection, dissiness, weakness in the morning by afternoon I feel better but still not perfect. I also wake up in the night unable to sleep. I also got a bacterial infection in my scalp creating small sores

Hello Maureen… I too have just come off Armidex after 4 years and can not find any info on the effects of coming off the drug… only being on it. I am experiencing minor hot flushes, sore throat, heart palpitations and generally feeling quite tired and lethargic…If you find any more info regarding withdrawal and the length of time it lasts, I would be interested in hearing about it. Because I am feeling quite crummy I think that I will speak with my ongologist and discuss these issues.

I went off Arimidex two weeks ago after five years. While taking Arimidex, I experienced no bone or joint issues, no weight gain, no hair fall out, no pain at all, the only side effect being dramatically reduced libido and vaginal dryness (I mean like the Sahara, making for painful sex despite lubricants–definitely not an incentive to get it on).I find it extraordinary that there are no follow-up studies on the effects of years of total estrogen deprivation. I am currently experiencing Arimidex withdrawal symptoms that I never expected: back pain, vaginal infections (yeast), temperature fluctuations similar to but not as bad as hot flashes, and even the occasional night sweat. I’m not tired, and I don’t feel heavy, but the pain takes its toll. Having looking forward to resuming a more active sex life post-Arimidex, I am disappointed to have to deal instead with very persistent yeast infections

I took Arimidex for 7 months. Just stopped because I knew this was harming me more than helping. I felt like a dead person. I was an idiot at work and I was a danger on the road because of the cognitive side effects (foggy, forgetful, insomnia, weight gain). Please read the 2010 article by Bostjan Seruga out of Toronto: “Absolute Benefits of Aromatase Inhibitors in Adjuvant Treatment of Breast Cancer: Should We Know More?” (jco.ascopubs.org/content/28/20/e346.fu…. )
and other articles by Seruga and Ian Tannock that question both the effectiveness and safety of AIs

just like return of DHT causes trouble some think return Estogen causes trouble

I think the return of estrogen to our bodies might also be involved w/our side effects.

I came off Arimadex a week ago and seem to feel very down and weepy. I am also experiencing pins and needles in my hands. The doctor told me there would be no effects when stopping but there do seem to be. I also feel slightly unwell - does any of this register with you?

even hair thinning and sore breasts.

Side Effects
Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, loss of appetite, body aches and pains, breast swelling/tenderness/pain, headache, dry mouth, scratchy throat, increased cough, dizziness, trouble sleeping, tiredness/weakness, flushing and sweating (hot flashes/hot flushes), vaginal bleeding, hair thinning, and weight change can occur. Changes in diet such as eating several small meals may help lessen the chance…

arimidex vitamin D deficiency

I have been taking Arimidex .5mg every 3 days for about 2-3 years now, I could say so far so good except that my blood work came back showing a vitamin D deficiency

community.breastcancer.org/forum/78/topic/697279
I recently was tested for Vit. D. deficiency and found I am severely deficient almost to the ricket stage. I also found it can cause severe bone pain, and bone thinning. I have been on Arimidex for almost 3 years. Anyone else been tested for Vit. D. If so have you found a problem. Dr. told me many over 60 are vit. D. deficient, yet they do not test people routinely for this. Shame could really avoid problems if they did.

weight loss

Lois, check out mayoclinic.com and type in Giant Cell Arteritis in the Search blank and you will want to read all about this condition for it sounds like what you have experienced. "Headache, jaw pain, blurred or double vision; blindness and less often stroke…are serious complications of Giant Cell Arteritis which is also called Temporal Arteritis or Cranial Arteritis…inflammation of arteries in head. Also…very importantly!!!..note the reference included that often a condition called Polymyalgia Rheumatitica afflicts those with Giant Cell Arteritis. Polymyalgia rheumatica sounds like all of our complaints of bone and joint pain…only thing is it references “un-intended weight loss”. I haven’t had that…has anyone else? Let us know what your doctor says today. It’s important …very important!

Carolyn, I lost 25 pounds after taking Arimidex. Don’t know if it was related or just a reaction to the whole situation. Lois, I developed TMJ during radiation. Think it was a part of anxiety over two surgeries, etc. My dentist made me a device that I wore at night and during the day when I felt like it. It made all the difference. During the first few months after beginning Arimidex, I began having the same jaw pain experienced earlier. I went back to wearing the device. I haven’t needed it for almost a year.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get Arimidex out of your system after stopping? How long before the side-effects stop? How soon before estrogen begins coming back? I am 75 days now without taking the pill and still have extreme weakness in my legs. In late June I found myself unable to walk–and stopped the pill. I was using a cane for about two weeks. I have been swimming daily and going to a hospital-sponsored exercise class twice a week–and I still experience weakness below the knees and difficulty going up stairs.

I’m afraid that I still have problems with my feet and hands a year after discontinuation. My general aches have improved since starting vitamin D last March. The build up of Vitamin D is cumulative and may take up to a year
vitamin D deficiency
topix.com/forum/drug/arimidex/TP8U2VC0QS0NIULE4/p11
Hello All!! Just got back from the Rheumatologist that I visited some weeks ago. I was anxious to hear results of 16 lab tests…only was was significant…it is a measurement of Vitamin D and this is the name of the test: Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy level OR 25 (OH) D level. Normal is 30 to 60; my level was 18. Symptoms of insufficiency include joint/muscle pain. I have been googling for an hour to find out more, but wanted to let you guys know as others may want to convince doctors to test for this deficiency in Vitamin D that can lead to big issues. One thing I was wondering is if the Arimidex factor of depleting estrogen is a big-time contributor to body not converting “stuff” into useable Vitamin D in our bodies. Bottomline is I hope others reading our blog will check into this Vitamin D deficiency deal. I have an rx for some medicine to take to “solve the prob”…hope it helps me. If anyone else has similar thoughts and revelations about Vitamin D deficiency symptoms…please share. I was excited to tell about this…it may be something that we can help one another with. Best!ad
Teeth and Ear Ringing

I’v been on arimidex 4 years, suffering with joint pain in feet, ankle and hands. The ringing in ears started about two years ago, and I never related that to this drug, interesting!!! Another thing to bring up to my oncologist. Also, have just been experiencing some teeth problems, as never before, another interesting aspect!
I am starting to slow down my dose to every other day for awhile and then hopefully get off all together.
Sleep problems after stopping Adex

I went off arimidex in July. Since then I have felt as if my metabolism has slowed significantly. I had to lessen my food intake just to stay the same weight. I still have hot flashes and interrupted sleep patterns

. They are low vitamin D too and many tell that after taking vitmain D they feel better. I conclude that

1-since testeoserone and Estrogen work togather loss of either hormone will cause the same effects.
2-our body somehow turns against our own hormone and when it returns it causes inflammation which over time get worse for some people.
3- vitamin D is a works as anti-inflammatory agent. for example wellnessresources.com/health/articles/vitamin_d_is_a_powerful_anti-inflammatory/
