Searching the Internet looking for similar stories to ours

I think it’s interesting to search the Internet and look for similiar stories to ours. Here’s what seems to be a marijuana-induced PFS story. (You never know what could’ve caused this kid’s problems, he could’ve been on accutane for all we know. Interesting nonetheless.)

You are a true freak.

Says the puppy whisperer.

They aren’t similar because they never took a 5AR inhibitor. The mechanisms of action are different and unrelated, therefore at a root cause level they do not suffer from the same syndrome we do. Hence, trying to compare apples to oranges is a pointless endeavor.

The symptoms are strikingly similiar so he could be suffering from the same syndrome. Marijuana may not be a 5-AR inhibitor, but it significantly lowers plasma DHT levels, according to awor and the following link. This could’ve triggered the same syndrome as ours. This sydrome appears to be beyond 5-AR inhibition. (Women can get it)

EDIT:

Post the link SA.

If your going to “search the internet” i recommend starting with medical texts in google books, PubMed and google scholar.

This particular thread seems to me pointless considering anyone can post anything on the internet and because this “marijuana-induced PFS story” seems totally unique. You might find it “Interesting nonetheless” but does this ONE post really change your opinion on one of the most commonly used drugs in human history? And what exactly do you plan to do with this find anyway?

If you are going to “look for similiar stories to ours” ask yourself this; Androgen Deprevation Therapy has been used since the 1960s and its effects in real life and in the lab (to Androgen receptors etc) have been studied by some of the best scientists in the world since that time. No mention has ever been made of any ‘PFS’. Why is that?

I would like to thank you in advance for doing the hunger strike. I think it would be great if you took photos of yourself while doing it and do a blog at the end of each day.

I am a little worried that you wont do it because mew and awor havent done it first, but no surely you will, you did tell the forum you are doing it for everyone, even for the poor soul who took his own life.

I just hope that you didnt mean a metaphorical hunger strike.

Isn’t there a puppy in New Zealand that needs to be rescued?

Sure why not.

Would you recommend searching fin side effects in “medical texts in google books, PubMed and google scholar”. Does any of it mention that after fin use Oscar can’t “fall in love with a woman” or has “severe anhedonia and has to spend the rest of his life as a hermit crab.”

Any of those side effects listed in pubmed? “Why is that?”

@OSCAR

In all seriousness, I was thinking these issues were not brought up in the past because androgen deprivation is typically used on much older gentleman, not young guys who are shedding hairs. I just thought older guys did not notice these PFS side effects the way young, active men would.

I am just curious, what were you thinking as to why it was never mentioned?

This is a serious question by the way. I would actually value someones opinion. Thank you.

So why is there no reports of Finasteride or even Androgen Deprevation Therapy causing many of these symptoms?

I think the reason for the lack of reports is because this is a very rare side effect not because normal side effects are rarely reported.

If its just under-reporting wouldnt men undergoing ADT suffer a higher incidence of the more extreme side effects of ‘PFS’ in the last 50yrs? (enough to generate a single article?) And surely there would be WAY more than 2000 members (0.001% of users) if this was anything but a very rare occurence despite what the rat studies suggest. (and why exactly did no more than 150 members ask to take part in Dr Irwigs study anyway?)

We are suffering a rare adverse drug reaction. And its logical to say this is because some of us are very sensitive to DHT deprevation and end up with the known effects of ADT and/or the root of the stranger problems is a secondary side effect of Finasteride not due to androgen deprevation.

There is.

Sorry let me be clear. ADT can cause sexual symptoms, doctors who work in this field accept that.

But there has never been a report of ADT causing these other PFS symptoms. Which would be expected. Therefore these symptoms at least are not the result of Androgen deprevation but a rare side effect particular to Finasteride.
