I’ve read the finasteride lowers prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels in the blood. (Apparently it’s a misnomer b/c prostate specific antigen is not located only in the prostate.) Anyway, what the hell does this have to do with hair loss? I thought hair loss was just about DHT. Or does DHT being blocked incidentally lower PSA too? The reason I bring this up is b/c I’ve read that saw palmetto works only in the prostate and doesn’t lower serum PSA.
PSA has to do with prostate cancer.
Fin cuts PSA in half when you’re on it so a man with a normally high PSA may get mis-diagnosed as NOT having prostate cancer (because it has been reduced by Fin, masking the prostate cancer) when in fact he does.
I was thinking that becase PSA circulates in the blood, it reaches hair follicles and hence has something to do with hair loss. In other words, lowering PSA would serve as a remedy for hair loss.
Uhm, no research has shown anything like that. That’s quite the imagination, however… and since nobody here cares abour hairloss anymore, not sure why this is of interest to you anyway. Hairloss sites would be better suited to this type of question.
