Propecia Suicide Victims Bodies (who had brain fog) - Autopsies & Doners - Have any wished to help us with their last requests?

Not to sound mean, macabre, terribly off base or disgusting (i sincerely mean well with this post), but what about the pfs suicide victims with brain fog? For example, the e.r. doctors pfs suffering late son, had described himself as despondent, zombie-like and living in a mentally crippled state. I myself have felt the same miserable way for years! I barely cling to life at times myself. Wouldn’t their brains, and bodies potentially help us at all with finding a clue? An autopsy might help, along with tissue studies and experiments. Perhaps, those who have chosen to die, might have died with, that noble intent in mind, to maybe help the rest of us out still suffering. Given the sensitive nature (perfectly understandable), I’m not surprised no one has raised this question. It is really unbearable living with the mental sides, but nobody will be able to test us, or cut into our brains alive.

I apologize if this would offend anyone at all. I am also living in a mentally crippled state due to pfs…

Stupid thread. One the one had I’m getting annoyed of reading about how we might have been ‘brain damaged’ or ‘lobotomised’. The neurological side effects are a direct consequence of androgen deprivation, read about men who undergo Lupron or Zoladex for prostate cancer and reduce their T levels to near zero, they suffer the exact same mental sides. Reverse the androgen resistance and you reverse the symptoms pure and simple. We even have had long term sufferers who have had brief recovery periods through antibiotics or whatever so it is not irreversible.

Also, it is tasteless to say the least to suggest an autopsy of a dead former forum member. As for how many suicides, how long is a piece of string? We can’t reasonably expect to know the answer to that. FWIW I don’t think there are many - paximperia was clearly one of the worst and in deep despair and the forum wasn’t as advanced then, nor were there as many hardcore victims, so I’m not surprised he felt alone and without hope. I do remember reading about a wife’s account of her husband’s suicide while ON the drug, due to the depression it imposed on him.

There’s been quite a few based on the amount of calls I get. Most never even heard of this website.

sa, is it the families of suicide victims who are calling you? Or men who are now suicidal and the didn’t know why until they saw you on the news?

how do you know if Dutasteride was in his body? did his dad tell you? if autopsy confirmed it then was there any investigation for this?

SA you/we should keep a count of approximitely how many finasteride related suicides we know of. This is important information maybe we could get to the FDA regarding pulling this garbage from the market.

I cannot comprehend why this would be considered tasteless? Are you suggesting, that the suicide victims would not want to help us, or those that are left still suffering? Do you think they had no heart, or compassion, for us who continue to suffer immensely with this condition everyday for years?! I completely disagree with you. The mental sides are by far unbearable and indeed torturous to live with daily. I would consider this to be heroic, rather than tasteless, and genuinely compassionate for those left. I still consider us (by this terrible fate) to all be brothers, who should sincerely have compassion for one another. If one would choose to kill himself, because of the unbearable condition, I can honestly sympathize. The mental sides are genuinely unbearable. However, if one were to kill oneself, with a last request, for their brain, body to be preserved and dedicated to pfs research, then I would have considered, that person a hero and true martyr. Remember, this is an act of war and treason on consumers, by the big drug companies, and the lax and well connected fda. We are the foot soldiers, who are left to fight on, and anything (even as sad as a pfs suicide victim’s body), that would help us in research, should be considered a heroic act.

I am annoyed with people like you, who choose to criticize those suffering immensely (like myself), from this illness with the words they choose to describe the suffering. You sound like an expert with your comments, and sound very sure of yourself. Pure and simple? How much do you charge for the cure doctor?

We have a right to call the mental suffering whatever we like. I can sympathize and relate with **** (R.I.P.) describing this horrific condition as being in a mentally despondent haze, in a zombie like state, and feeling mentally crippled. Please be respectful, for others rights to call this whatever we wish to describe the illness as. As far as I know, there is not one person in the world, who can cure us, or scientifically and factually solve this hell we live, and thus continue to suffer in immensely…

as tasteless as this may be - isn’t this kind of important information!? i mean - did **** attempt taking dutasteride again as a last resort or does this give evidence that the drug stays in our system long after discontinuation?

I’m sorry but I do not see this as “tasteless” at all. It is merely an idea, albeit controversial, to perhaps help inform us of what could be at play for this horrible syndrome. I’m not sure of any of the science behind anything and from what I gather it’s very likely that androgen deprivation is playing the catalyst for many (all?) of our symptoms but robertino’s right, if this could help us, and our brothers who unfortunately deemed suicide as their only way out were donors, wouldn’t it in actuality be an abuse of their gift–their bodies for science–to deny the possibility of an autopsy? As unfortunate as the situation is for these individuals (may they rest in peace), their sacrifice could in essence be of great help to us. Again, I have almost no scientific background to speak of but I acknowledge the importance/significance of modern science and the successes that have arisen from autopsies. Though I do feel sorrow for all victims of this drug, I believe any consented measure to possibly help us move forward should be taken, or at the very least, considered.

This is not very plausible due to numerous factors:

  1. The user must indicate he is willing for his body to be used for autopsy (plausible)
  2. Parents must agree to this wish post-mortem (50/50 chance, yes or no)
  3. Finding and funding a research scientist to do such an autopsy, and who even knows what to look/test for (not likely) – plus ethical and medical board approvals required (unlikely).

I realize this is a brainstorming idea but in reality it would most likely never happen. But if it does, at least one positive element could come from something so terrible.
