Possible Propecia Side Effects?

Hi everyone i just found your site and i was horrified to read all these terrible stories. Im 20 year old male and have been on Propecia since i was 16 so 4 years.

In January of this year i started having ridiculously long hot flashes that caused extremely noticeable red flushing on my face and arms, i was anxious all the time, heart palpitations, increased heart rate at rest, frequent sweating and the sexual problems. I think i might have Gyno too.

I have been to countless doctors to see what was causing this but all my blood work has come back normal except i was high on Epineprine (adrenaline). We later explored that and determined it was not the problem.

It is making me very uncomfortable, the flushing is unbearable and makes me look like a tomato and is constant. It makes me feel like i have a fever all the time so its terrible.

The cardiologist said everything is ok with my heart so thats another doctor who couldn’t help me.

Then i found this website and am scared because if i truly am experiencing this from proprecia the general consensus i got is that they may not go away.

Do these side effects that i have listed sound like they may have come from taking the propecia for 4 years?

Thanks for any input i know everyone here has been through a lot and I would really appreciate it. Even if it turns out this isn’t the problem i doubt ill ever take it again.

Affirmative to everything you listed. In that Propecia can induce these symptoms.

Ridiculously long hot flashes = Propecia

Anxious all the time = Propecia

Heart palpitations = Propecia

Increased heart rate at rest = Propecia

Frequent sweating = Propecia

Sexual problems = Propecia

Gyno = Propecia

With the exception of Gyno, I’ve experienced every effect you listed. Many here have.

Check the members section again to see just how common these negative effects actually are.

Some people return to normal, some don’t.

Is there anything else that i can do to increase the chance of a full recovery? This is pretty shocking right now and don’t want to have to live like this.

  1. Read FAQ at top of site.

  2. Get bloodwork per propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92

  3. Get off the drug.

Most likely everything will go back to normal in coming weeks/months. If not, this is the place for you.

I went to see an endocrinologist last week and he said that the drug has a very short half life and after a few weeks should have been out of my systems. I brought up the topic of a full hormone profile but he said only Testosterone, Free Testosterone, and Estradiol were necessary. All of those coming back normal. I have been off the drug cold turkey for nearly a month now.

Are there any products I can take to speed up this recovery? My main complaint is extreme redness of my face and arms and feeling very feverish all the time along with anxiety/panic attacks.

Also does anyone have any advice for how i should get the rest of my bloodwork tested?

Thanks for any help.

The drug is metabolized and excreted within 6-8 hrs, but it can take more than a week for 5AR2 to begin regenerating after inhibition from a single dose, and up to 30 days to completely come back online.
