I have mentioned this a few times. Finasteride deprives the human body of it’s most potent androgen: DHT. Such a deprivation is an environmental catastrophe to the body, akin to say, a drought, a famine or severe injury. The stress response is elevated cortisol (thus adrenal fatigue) which converts T4 (inactive thyroid hormone) to reverse t3 (inactive thyroid hormone, instead of t3- active thyorid hormone). (This is a documented survival response in human beings developed over millions of years which enables us to survive in harsh climates). Why is this a survival response? Our body temperature lowers to reduce our metabolic demand in such harsh conditions, and thus adapt to the new environment of androgen deprivation, lack of water, food. A similar response is seen in patients in Intensive Care Wards; physicians are becoming more alert to reverse t3 levels (or subclinical thyroid state) and the adrenal functioning of the patient (interestingly, patients with the best adrenal function have the best prognosis). Anyway, I digress.
In a condition of lowered body temperature, it is known that GI parasites and yeast profilerate and flourish, and perpetuate the illness state.
We all have lowered body temperature
We all have GI parasites and/or systemic yeast infections
We all need stool DNA parasitology analysis and live blood microscopy
Elimination of GI parasites and/or yeast infestation is critical to a slow path to recovery.
