Pituitary MRI Results

Could those that have had MRI post their results.

My report came back ‘normal’, however it mentioned the presence of a 1cm cyst on the pineal gland. While they’re not uncommon, anything bigger than 0.5cm has been known to cause disturbances. Namely disruption of the circadian rhythm, blurred vision, vertigo/dizziness, melatonin deficiency., decreased basal temperature…

More interestingly they’re a result of hormonal fluctuations. I wonder if use of finasteride could have caused it’s onset, and whether it has any significance on our condition.

Obviously if there’s no record of it’s existence in other people’s results then it’s probably irrelevant. However given that doctors are prone to giving the all clear despite abnormalities, it’d be interesting to see if anyone else had one observed without being informed.

Mine was fine. I had an MRI with and without contrast.

Everything looked normal except for “Mild mucous membrane thickening is present in the ethmoid sinuses.”

Yours may or may not be irrelevant. When my endo saw my low LH the first thing she thought of was making sure I didn’t have a pituitary tumor. I do think I remember her telling me that they were somewhat common though.

Same thing for me man. All endocrinologists check for this. Mine was a minor adenoma not likely to cause any implications as i was told.

I have had three MRI with and without contrast , all normal but I have very severe pfs symptoms, to the point where I thought many times I was dying.

Mine came back with an abnormal 3cm growth in the Sphenoid sinus, the reason I had the scan done was because of pain, double vision and vertigo.

I’m having another scan in a few weeks to see if its growing.

There’s no end to the side effects of this drug, my life is completely ruined.

I highly doubt your abnormal growth is related to fin. I had two MRI in Canada and one in USA all clear. The reason for MRI was double vision and difficulty in balance but nothing was found. I also had nausea, wieght loss, diarrhoea vomiting and low BP.Dr also put me on holter monitor but nothing. Maybe by then I had started VitD3. this all hormonal. MAny hormones are abnormal.

I’m not a doctor but I agree 100% with Spstriken, I would bet the growth is asymptomatic.

I’d like to think that its not but I had an MRI when I was younger from a sports injury and it wasn’t there.

Also high Cortisol, which many of us have causes bone growth which is what the growth is made of.

is your cortisol high? urine or blood?

Yeah it’s always high on my bloods and high on my urine tests in the morning and then goes all over the shop after that. I figured the high Cortisol is causing my muscle wasting, I cannot put on any weight, even when consuming a tonne of food :-/

My Igf is high as well.

I also have all of those other symptoms you mentioned.

MAny studies show (I put one here too) stress hormone (cortisol) itself is a big inhibitor of Androgens. What your dr prescribe to control it? any further tests to determine other homones like 17 hydroxy progestrone.?

@spstriken

Nothing to lower it, even though its consistently high on my tests. Vitamin c seems to help a little. I’ve had heaps of hormone profiles, saliva and blood but nothing of use. Have you managed to get any of your symptoms under control?

is there any difference b/w saliva and blood tests?
I am taking VitD3 and occasionally B1. yes I am stable but balance is very delicate. Sometimes feel very bad. I have been wheat eater all of my life but now if I eat wheat (any gluten product) I feel extremely fatigued and my joints hardly move, get brain fog, blurry vision (on top of already what I have).

dannyfc did you have your growth hormone levels checked ?

No I didn’t. Not showing any symptoms of Acromegaly so no need.

dannyfc

Have you been scanned since to see if the growth has grown?

Thank you,
Winston
