Don’t try to find excuses for yourself. You know that this is a physical consequence of propecia use. While the remote cause is propecia, the most immediate cause is likely to be low pregnenolone. Dr Crisler fixed the stammering of some males via pregnenolone supplementation.
Yes, we know Finasteride inhibits neurosteroids in the brain (THDOC, Allopregnanolone), the loss of which may potentially impact myelination and transmission. Therein lies the most likely explanation.
Unfortunately this is simply conjecture. None of us are qualified to make diagnoses of others, especially anonymously online.
It would be appreciated if you do not make blanket statements such as this, when testing is the only way to gain insight into such issues.
I used the word “likely” (like you did in your statement above) exactly because I can’t make a diagnosis, but only provide an opinion. Exactly like you, I provided an opinion. I think low pregnenolone is a likely cause of stuttering because 1) there are papers that show that it modulates neurotransmitters (jneurosci.org/content/24/46/10318.abstract) and 2) dr Crisler cured stuttering via pregnenolone supplementation in some of his male patients. On the other hand, you attribute stuttering to the inhibition of neurosteroids by finasteride, while he is NOT on finasteride. Whether this inhibition has become permanent or not is, to use your own words, “simply conjecture”. I hope we all agree on this.
Mew, why are you allowed to say your conjectures, while others are not? You should seriously consider your own behavior before criticizing the same behavior in others. Just basic social rules, you know.
hi, if your stuttering becomes an issue, I suggest you to talk to your dr about testing serum pregnenolone.
Sure, but I don’t want to pin as much on Propecia as possible for the hell of it, either. If these problems had been persistent throughout these two plus years, I would’ve easily blamed Propecia. I see your point, and I greatly appreciate your advice, and will definitely mention pregnenolone to my GP, as it has become quite embarrassing socially. Thank you.
I’ve been trying this thing lately. Its main purpose is to improve your sexual stamina, but it appears it might effect other areas too. Basically, you masturbate until you’re close to climax, wait, masturbate again, and so forth. At least three or four times in total each “session”, until you finally bring yourself to climax. I tried this, except I decided not to ejaculate at all, and just letting it go limp naturally instead, as I was curious to see what would happen. From Wed to Saturday I did this probably six or seven times in total, before ejaculating after the last time. During these four days, I more or less constanly had the urge to have sex. Nothing out of the extraordinary; just something close to that normal feeling of actually having a sexual urge. There’s probably no medical basis for this, but I actually felt re-charged. Did this three or four times from Sunday to Tuesday (yesterday) without ejaculating, and, last night, I had an erection bigger and firmer than anything I’ve seen during the last 18 months. Still didn’t feel that much when climaxing, but the semen was thick.
Anyone else tried this? I don’t know whether to regard this as a once-in-a-lifetime fluke, a result of the “exercise” or just a sign that I am, in general, gradually improving. Thoughts? Tried masturbating again this afternoon, though, and I was unable get to that size or stiffness today, but I really hope this is just due to fatigue.
2 pumps per day? That’s 30 mg/day! Just FYI: If I take less than 500 mg/day of transdermal pregnenolone I don’t feel anything. When I go low on cortisol, I take around 1500 mg/day for a few days, until high cortisol symptoms kick in. Obviously, I’m not using life-flo, but a highly concentrated gel. Note that I’m not implying or inviting you to take high doses of pregnenolone without a dr’s supervision; I’m just saying that if you haven’t felt anything, it may well be because you took waaay too little.
My neuro’s aren’t in that bad of shape, and really just reflect my thyroid cortisol numbers… When I took HC 25mgs + for a month or so, I felt no real benefits… I just felt off for the most part…and keep in mind, my cortisol levels are probably the worst you or I have ever seen, yet no real bed ridden fatigue… I’m trying t3 only… I expect to see some real benefits from that alone…
Been a while. Sort of had a crash in September, and for the majority of more or less two months plus I avoided sexual stimulation. Started trying again a couple of weeks ago, and my erections are hard enough to have sex, I guess, but not in any way complete.* Tried a pill last week, and had much better results with a large, single dose than I had 18 +/- months ago. I got hard pretty quick, it pointed upwards and it was painful to push it downwards. What scares me, though, is the size. I measured my penis several times half a year ago, and, somehow, I’ve lost about half an inch when erect. It’s not like I measured it once and possibly just got lucky that one time; we’re talking about a dozen times, and more or less the same length every time. Back then, I still wanted to get bigger and not settle with something smaller than what I (believe I) had, but at least I was above average. I’ve measured it twice during the last couple of days (one of them while I tried the pill, and one time today), and unless I used a completely different method when I measured before, I am definitely smaller. The head is also thinner. I don’t know why, and I’m quite frankly not amused. Could something like this happen after a couple of months with very little sexual stimulation? Will it return if I keep trying?
*(I realize that this means I’m luckier than many of you, and I really, really don’t mean to offend, but full recovery obviously is the goal.)
Sensitivity is still nonexistent. Stumbling over words is more or less gone, which doesn’t surprise me. I really don’t think that had anything to do with Propecia.
Also, I’ve got pains in the kidney area on both sides, which increases during sexual stimulation, and stays there for quite some time (usually 12+ hours) at that intensity after ejaculation. No idea what it is, but kidney diseases are known to cause ED, so I should get it checked.
