My scary story. . .

I got more lab work done - I’ll post them when I get a printout, but my ALT is around 200 which is 3x the norm. My AST was 2 points higher than my last one.

Some lab results still need to come back and I’m praying that I don’t have hepatitis C.

I have alot of the symptoms of hepC and I’m a health care provider.

I’m hoping my symptoms were from the fin, but why would my AST and ALT still be elevated at 7-8 months off of it? ugh…I dread looking at that HepC result.

Here’s my labs:

T. Protein 7.5 norm 6.4-8.2g/dl

Albumin 4.1 norm 3.4-5.0g/dl

*AST 89 H norm 15-37 U/L

ALK P 96 norm 50-136 U/L

*ALT 201 H norm 30-65 IU/L

T BILI 0.60 norm 0.00-1.00 mg/dl

D BILI 0.10 norm 0.00-0.30

TSH 1.16 norm 0.34-4.82 uIU/ml

Sed Rate 2 norm 0-15mm/hr

Ferritin 89 norm 26-388 ng/ml

vitamin B12 646 norm 211-911 pg/ml

folates, serum >24.00 norm: >4.38 ng/ml

*Heapatits A, Total Positive Norm - Negative

Antismooth MUSC 7 norm 0-19 Units

Hep B SURF AG Negative norm-Negative

Hep B SURG AB 6.02 H norm-negative

Hep C Virus AB <0.1 norm- 0.0-0.9

Prolactin 4.9 norm 2.1-17.7

RA LAtex 5.7 norm 0.0-13.9 IU/ml

Ceruloplasmin 20.7 norm 16.2-35.6mg/dl

Testosterone FREE 18.0 norm 8.7-25.1pg/ml

ANA-Direct 25 norm 0-99 AU/ml

So, in summary, I had Hepatits A at one point or another, but now I don’t. Hep A is the one you get once and have immunity as you clear it. And the evidence that it was a past case is: Antismooth MUSC 7 norm 0-19 Units. I guess I could have had it last year and I am now seeing the remnance.

My AST and my ALT are elevated possibly because of finasteride, but I’m not sure about that as I have been off of it 7-8 months now.

I have been immunized for hep B and that is why the one Hep test is positive and the other is negative - shows immunity.

MY HEPATIS C is NEGATIVE. Whew! Not that I was an IV drug user or anything, I just work in the health care industry and anything is possible after 18 years.

My free testosterone level is normal.

Everything else is normal also. I believe my Doctor is going to have me take a liver ultrasound next.

So, for me, this is great news so far.

These were the only tests I could talk my doctor into.

Any suggestions or comments?

I’ve been doing pretty good lately. I still have days that I’m pretty tired but I’d say nothing as bad as while on Propecia. Out of the last 4 days I’d say I felt great on 2 of them and just “blah” on the other 2.

I gave up Rogaine a couple of weeks ago just because I can’t be doing anything that could be making me tired. I’m sick of it.

No shed yet. My hair looks pretty good right now actually. I do nizoral every other day only now.

My doctor ordered me a liver ultrasound, mono test and another liver profile. I’ll let you know the results.

So I quit rogaine of couple of weeks ago and now I have my bloodwork done today. …My doctors office called and said my liver enzymes are almost down to normal.

I’ll post the results.

8 months off Propecia and I can see continued improvement. Some weeks are good and others I kind of drag. Sometimes I still have trouble thinking and talking, but nothing close to before.

I have to say that I am getting over mono as my epstein-barr virus test showed that I had chronic or recurrent mono. As to why I would have this I do not know since I have a strong immune system. Could propecia induce chronic mono in some people? I don’t know, but I do know that my symptoms lasted at least a year and a half before I got off propecia and then I started to get better. Mono shouldn’t last that long, so it had to be a combination of things in my opinion.

Also I am happy to say that my hair hasn’t fallen out, but I guess that could mean that I’m not pumping out DHT like I used to.

and I am losing excess weight easier.
