Merck’s new chief scientist, Roger Perlmutter (who–don’t quote me on this–appears to be of the Semitic faith) wants safety to take a backseat to efficacy as part of the company’s major overhaul:
“Perlmutter wants the R&D group to ask whether a drug works well first, and next whether it’s safe enough to go ahead with development. Before, there was too much emphasis on safety and not enough on breakthrough science, he told the analysts,” Bloomberg is reporting.
“‘He would rather see efficacy as the main objective and thinks that going down the safety route leads to too much risk-aversion,’” [Tim Anderson, an analyst with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.], told the group.

There are no words to express the anger I feel when I read something like that. People like him, should be fed the same poison until the body was completely devastated, and then be released to live in agony until the day he finally decides to commit suicide. Americans, how the fuck can you allow a company such as Merck to keep ruining lives like they do? I believe that everything is planned. They probably know that certain drugs are dangerous, but at the same time that only a small amount of people will experience it, and more importantly - it’ll be difficult to prove that any damage is actually caused by the drug. Vioxx, Propecia, Singulair and Fosamax. It’s no fucking coincidence.
I have ideas and opinions about this, but I don’t feel like getting to much into it. Long story short: A lot of American culture is complete garbage.

Yup. If 75% of people who used these drugs got PERSISTENT horrible side effects, they wouldn’t be on the market. Why? Because a vocal majority would be outraged. They key is to have only a very small amount of users get these horrible sides.
And there are other people fighting battles over other drugs. So here we are, a small minority, fighting over Finasteride. Then we have other scattered minorities fighting over sides from other drugs. We are not UNIFIED, so we are weak, and the majority doesn’t pay attention because they are worried about who the next “Bachelor” is going to be.
Apparently it is OK if only a small amount of users get their lives completely ruined. I don’t understand that logic, but somehow, it is OK. This actually makes sense if the drug is for LIFE SAVING means. So, if you decide to take a drug to possibly SAVE YOUR LIFE, and you are told the risks, then you take the risk, and if you die, well it’s on you.
We took the drug for VANITY purposes, and were not told the truth about the sides. Drugs like Fin should NOT be given for vanity purposes, PERIOD! My, and many others have had their life stripped from them. Not to mention the toll is takes on our families. IMHO, this is a form of manslaughter or maybe more.
The death penalty would be too good for these Merck Scumbags. They should be forced to take all their own dangerous drugs.
The crux is, we’re probably the least sympathetic of all illnesses. The general public couldn’t care less about PFS, they’d say it was our own fault for taking a drug for vanity purposes. They’d say MPB is nothing to be upset about, and it’s expected of men to be completely unphased by it.
This is my main worry, as there’s real no incentive for external parties to become involved in finding a cure. We’re such a minority that most brush it off as a purely psychological issue, that we’re crackpot conspiracy theorists blaming our life problems on a drug.
