Life (and hair) after propecia?

So I took the leap and quit propecia. I counted the pills and I have only taken 38 days worth - hopefully a small enough duration not to have permanent effects. My main question is to the guys who took propecia for a short duration then quick, like myself, what happened to your hair? If when you begin propecia, in theory, it lets the miniaturized hair fall out and regrow thicker (called shedding) - what if you take propecia, get a little shedding, then quit during the shedding process (like I did) - will the hair grow back to pre-propecia state, or am I stuck with this?

Hair should be the least of your concerns at this stage.

Exactly almost no1 here gives a damn about their hair anymore. Most of us have lost things far more important.

Propecia can in in fact cause hair loss and precipitate hypothyroidism (as in my case).

If this happens, it indicates your adrenal/thryoid is screwed (amongst other things).

Well surely we should note and discuss all and every ailment, side effect that happened to you during propecia and after quitting, in the interests of good practice and science. Strange how people who spend time researching the effects of this drug would be so quick to scrutinize another persons question or worries. Odd or drastic hair loss is linked to things like low iron, hormone levels. Just like skin and nails are good indications of what is happening within a person so is hair and the rate it is falling out.

My hair loss as accelerated during Propecia use and termination, coupled with noted side effects. This could be a indication of something.

You never mentioned anything remotely close to hormone concerns or mineral defincencies in your original post. I was all about your hairloss. Throw out your remaining Finasteride and enjoy life. Should any side effects persist after a few months come back and fill out a member story.

Androgenic alopecia differs from hypothyroidism induced hair loss. Someone reading this statement may think you’re suggesting finasteride induces androgenic alopecia.

Hey man, sorry that this forum is so anal. It’s really due to the mods.

My hair has done weird things since quitting propecia. I’ll go through stages where I’ll lose a lot of hair, and experience shedding, and then a week later it will start thickening, and It kind of fluctuates between the two, but overall I haven’t seen any noticeable changes in my hair since starting propecia – which is actually the only positive I’ve seen out of this whole thing. My hairloss has actually slowed down from what I think it would’ve been sans propecia.
But the guys are right – hair will be the least of your concerns in a short while. All I can say is enjoy the hell out of the two week grace period where your body bounces back to normal. You could be down & out for years after that…

I mean to an extent i still care about my appearance but it’s the least of my worries…before propecia my hair was very thick all over just thinnining in the temples…now i have lost all that hair and stuck with a receeding hairline. I don’t know it grows back.
