Is this caused by Propecia...?

Hi fellows, I’m new to this forum but I’ve been reading this for couple of days allready.

I’m sorry if this question is already made earlier but here I go… hopefully you are kind and answer my question.

History:

I’m 22 years old, about 3-4 years ago I started noticing my hairline rising, and first tried Rogaine without any real help. Then I tried propecia, and took it over a year, 1mg/day. I didn’t feel any big help with my hairline, but it also didn’t change that much I think.

Well, then I did read about the side effects Propecia can cause, and stopped using it.

Now about 2months ago, I noticed that my hairline has gone a long way upper recently, and thinked that what a hell, I must take that propecia again, but with smaller dose to avoid side effects.

i have been taking it 0,25mg (1/4 pill) every other day, one article on the internet said that this would be good, and still do the job for the hairline just fine.

What happened then?

1. Recently I’ve been feeling this sort of “numbness” in my penis. When I go to take a leak on the wc, it feels smaller and it somehow doesn’t “feel the touch” so good, like it’s little bit “numb”.

2. This also causes the feeling, that when I finish my peeing, it feels like I can’t feel if there’s some drops left or not. I go away from the WC, and suddenly these drops come out… not too nice! Like I’m not 100% in control of my urination “muscles” and cannot actually feel if there is some urin inside the penis or not. Weird!

3. Sometimes I notice that when I go to pee, there might be a drop or two of clear “slime” that comes out with the urin, this is weird. I don’t know what it is, but I think I don’t have any chlamydia or anything like that, I had that once when I was young, and it was very painful etc… Anything like that is not to be seen now. This has to do something to do with propecia or something else… or then it’s just normal.

4. Also 1-2weeks ago, I noticed one evening that I have this weird high pitch noise on my ears when I focused to listen it. I think this is called “tinnitus”, but I don’t know if this is tinnitus or just my imagination. I can hear even the smallest sound in a silent room, so my hearing is perfect. But when I go to sleep and it’s quiet, IF I do think about it - I can hear a small “wiiiiii” sound in my ears. I don’t know if it’s just my blood circulation what anyone can hear if they focus to hear it, or if it’s not normal. What do you think?

My question is - CAN these really be caused by this small dose of propecia? Have anyone else felt these similar feelings, specially that problem number 2 which I’m worried most…?

Or should I start checking out what other problem it might be… I remember a problem like this from my past years ago, it was there a little time and then went away, but I can’t remember if it was exactly the same thing or not. I didn’t even know drug called Propecia back then. It’s also possible it was the same thing, but caused by something else, and now propecia is causing it… I don’t know?

I’m interested to hear your thoughts, thank you!

Yes, all of those side effects have been attributed to the drug by numerous members on this site. The drug has near flat dose response so even if you take 0.2mg, it makes no difference because it inhibits nearly same amount of DHT as 5mg.

If you’re still taking drug, get off it.

This forum is for guys who quit the drug and continue to experience side effects. If you do not fall into that category, please do not post here.

Hi Mew, thanks for replying.

No need to be “rude” here  I have quitted this already once, I made the mistake to start it again - and now I’m asking these questions to know if this is really because of propecia - which would make me quit it rightaway cause this is not nice.

So I guess I just have to quit again now, and stay away from it.

So the other problems are too reported by many, not just the “numbness”…?

Yes, do a search (button at top of site).

Tinnitus has been discussed here before, for example. Peeing like a racehorse is due to prostate being atrophied, drug was designed to do that because prostate needs DHT to function correctly.
