I’ve recently tried Wellbutrin 150 mg, no effect…so it was upped to 300. Still no effect.
My wife takes ritalin, and feels the effect after just one pill. I tried one, and nothing.
What gives?
We’re either immune, build tolerance quickly, or are oversensitive. I cannot feel drunk anymore. This is a good question but no one seems to have a definitive answer. In fact it is the crux of our problem. We don’t react normally. I am particularly pissed at the fact I don’t develop more stamina or enjoy exercise.
If you figure something out let us know, we are all trying to understand why our bodies no longer react normally…
Its like we are dealing with some super infection or something.
This could not be further from the truth. Please do not promote baseless claims or theories which are not even documented to be connected to drug usage, per mechanisms of action outlined in Finasteride Studies section.
I take Wellbutrin and so far I’ve responded well to it.
Maybe wife’s amount of ritlin isnt enough to be effective on you. You could be twice her size or more.
I highly advise against Ritalin. Its an upper and has a host of it’s own side effects. Stay away from focus/amphetamine based drugs. I don’t understand anyway why your wife would still be on Ritalin and not one of it’s newer derivatives that are less problematic like focalyn.
My sister adopted a child with very severe ADHD which crosses over at times to conduct disorder. She went from Rialin to Focalyn and has responded well.
Is it just you and Mew who claim you can’t get drunk anymore?
That’s fucking crazy man, has this ever been reported in any condition? who was the guy who said he didn’t sweat anymore - I mean that’s crazy, if you went in to a doctor’s and said you didn’t sweat I wonder what they would say.
I guess I’m one of those who fall into the category of oversensitive to every drug or supplement now. Even small doses of magnesium oil gave me lethargy and brain fog. lol
I didn’t say I can’t get drunk anymore – while on the drug, I could not feel the effects of alcohol. These effects continued for the 1st 1-2 years off drug and diminished during that time. Now, 5 years later, I can feel the effects of alcohol like pre-Fin.
Finasteride has been studied for use in alcoholics, since it blocks the “buzz” from alcohol by inhibiting Progesterone to Allopregnanolone conversion (ie, Allo can no longer affect GABA-A receptors), as a way to get them off the sauce.

I’ve been off two plus years and do not feel the effects of alcohol either. I also don’t really sweat. From my experience the doctors didn’t really care when I told them I no longer sweat, even in the dry sauna.
In that case it makes perfect sense, when I was on the stuff I think I may have had a harder time getting drunk. Everything that pops up about this damn drug now, I wish I had seen before.
As I started spiraling out of control the effects of alcohol totally went away. The last few months on the drug I could not get drunk. It came to a head two weeks before I quit. I went on vacation and literally drank about 5-10 glasses of wine the first night there and did not feel a damn thing. I was telling people there was something wrong and then thought I was nuts and just had a crazy tolerance. Six months later, I still have issues with catching a buzz. It feels like I get a buzz after a few, but then it goes away quickly and then I can’t get it back.
Last year, on new years eve, I was at a party. All my friends where falling about drunk and vomiting everywhere. I drank more than everyone else (10 pints 10 shots 1/3 bowl punch) but I was basically sober. In fact I was so sober i was able to drive myself home about 5 in the morning. I thought that was strange at the time. Im not saying it had no effect but I was not ‘intoxicated’ I just felt groggy, and I quickly returned to normal.
I feel way to sick all the time to ever drink that much. I dont know how you guys do it.
Same thing happens to me. Now too much is half a beer.

Low 3adiolG may explain this, has effects on GABA-A receptors and as a result Dopaminergic pathways.

Metabolism pathway and substrates for androgen action. Testosterone (T) is metabolized to dihydrotesterone (DHT) via 5α-reductase, which is converted to 3α-androstanediol (3α-diol) via 3α-hydroxysteroid oxidoreductase. T and DHT bind to intracellular androgen receptors(ARs) and 3α-diol binds GABAA/benzodiazepine receptor complexes (GBRs), which maybe localized to dopaminergic neurons in the nucleus accumbens (NA).
…
There is evidence that androgens, particularly 3α-diol, may have actions through GBRs. Several steroids can alter GBR function, and the 5α-reduced, 3α-hydroxylated structure of 3α-diol meets the requirements of the most potent steroid modulators of GBRs

The research described addresses whether T, a widely used anabolic steroids (AS), has positive euphorogenic effects which may contribute to their abuse liability in part through non-genomic actions. The implications of this research are that AS and/or T may produce some of their positive hedonic effects by enhancing 3α-diol production, which in turn have actions at GBRs in the NA, which synapse on dopaminergic neurons, to produce positive hedonic effects. Further research is needed to ascertain other hedonic effects and mechanisms of androgens.
