Hairloss in itself is a symptom of sexual exhaustion. Also Dr.Lin has a theory that excessive orgasm turns testosterone into dht, which affects the hair. A known fact from elsewhere is also that in orgasm, dopamine levels drop (and prolactin rises). Many have gotten benefits from using dopamine boosting supplements such as tyrosine, methionine and phenylalanine, so have I. On the other hand, there is information that finasteride would work as a dopamine antagonist too.
BTW, some of the guys at recover.forumup.org have ejaculated many times per day for years, I have not done that, and neither have you with 4-5 times per week. But I guess, that with already weakened adrenals due to for example constant depression, 4-5 times per week is too much over longer periods of time like months or years, and doing very long masturbation/sex sessions makes the effect even worse.
Is there a survey about libido prior finasteride use on this forum? Mine was high, no doubt about that.
I believe the best thing to do to help the body heal would be to drop porn altogether. Example: on recover.forumup.org, there is a guy who ejaculated too much to porn in his 20’s, got moderate sexual exhaustion symptoms, but he healed after getting married and dropping porn. At 33-35, his wife started working shift work and he hit porn again hard, after 2 years of that, he had bad sexual exhaustion symptoms, same kind than our symptoms. He found out what was the reason (SE by porn) and tries to get better now.
However, only abstaining does not cure anything. Last spring I had periods of over one month without ejaculation. The Dr.Lin guy says that a good cycle for a healthy man is 2-3 times per week. If recovering, then less, but at least once a week to keep the system going. Some people at SE forum have abstained very long times, and some have found it to be beneficial. I have gone from anywhere to once a week to three times per week the last half year. Maybe I will start a regular once per week cycle again.
Joshblack, you asked how much ejaculation is ok. I strongly believe that is very personal. It depends on your endochrine function, and even liver function if Dr.Lin guy is to be trusted. From elsewhere, for example in life’s stresses in general, a person with strong adrenals can tolerate much more stress than a person with weak ones. After having had worse symptoms after ejaculation, I consider ejaculation a stressor too (for example think of the many minerals and amino acids excreted in sperm fluid). However, a good guideline is not to start having sex/masturbating on a moment if there is not any spontaneousity erection-wise.
