Ihatepropecia1's brain fog discussion

I think Taurine is what helped my brain fog the most, if I’m not mistaken it’s a GABA A agonist, you’ll have to ask around I’ve used it for around a year now on and off and slowly I think I’m benefiting from using it, you’ll have to ask around here but from what I’ve seen so far it’s well tolerated. Otherwise I’m assuming just time itself.

If you cannot work and the cognitive impairment is documented by neurocognitive testing, you can apply for disability. There is a category called “Neurocognitive Disorder, Medication-Induced.”

Hey guys, I appreciate you all helping me the past week. Unfortunately my life is to far Gone, the fact that I got post finasteride and this horrible brain fog has ruined my life. The last few days I haven’t been able to function, I had to drop out of school, I haven’t been able to leave my room, I constantly have a headache, I can’t read or write without forgetting instantly, I can’t do anything. To me I’m already dead but worse because I’m suffering. This won’t ever pass I already know it. This brain fog is so deep that it’s here forever and I already know it that’s why I want to end it now. I’m gonna eat a bunch of shit the next week say bye to my friends and that’s it. Thanks everyone, please find a cure for this, not for me, for the next guy, love you all

Do not do it, please. Occupy your mind with something else. Calm down, man. You will recover faster than you think.

Leave this pessimistic forum as soon as possible and stop comparing yourself to other people. You will recover, and you may not even have PFS because of the short time that has elapsed. Don’t take your life because of the medicine’s side effects. Any human being can go through this.

You will get better very fast. Believe me.

I messaged him hopefully he’ll get back

Please go look at my past posts when I was in your position. I couldn’t even read a screen yet alone write. My vision was so messed up and everything was in slow motion - like in the movies when a bomb goes off near someone. Although I won’t lie and I still have brain fog, it got so much better! I have a job, friends and all that Jazz. Please stay strong

Give it a few more weeks. You’re only 7 days off the drug. Please don’t do this.

It’s not fully better, I still have a “disconnected” feeling, and it feels especially weird when I walk outside, but it’s not literally slow motion any more. It gradually got better over about a year. Now I still have Shakey vision, I still feel disconnected, and when I’m outside it still feels strange and foreign, but I can hold conversation and eye contact better and things move at normal speed. I also have trouble focusing on fine detail, like a detailed pattern or a plant.

You don’t have PFS yet. You have to wait at least three months until you can say that. Until then, you may just have side effects.

Did you officially cancel all your classes and everything? Why don’t you think you could be better real soon? Let’s say you did have PFS. Perhaps your brain fog would still improve and you could enroll next semester still. And that’s even IF you have PFS.

You said it was gone yesterday in a post earlier today. That tells me it’s improving. Please hang on my man. You have a legitimate shot at recovery, and you’re barely off the drug. Please consider speaking to a therapist or someone professional. And if you can’t hang on and absolutely cannot take it, why not try the aderrall you’ve been prescribed and see if things get better.

Please hang on my man. We can skype if you need someone to talk to.

Man if you have only been off for a few weeks that’s 100% withdrawal talking. Did you tell your parents about your situation? Anytime anyone goes off a medication acting on their hormones they are going to have a couple months of chaos. Just take it easy and see where you are after your hormones have stabilized. I repeat: You are not in a rational state. You are in a temporary state of hormonal upheaval that is natural from coming off a hormonal drug.

@Ihatepropecia1, you definitely have not given it enough time. Sure you may have missed a year and you may have to redo medical school cuz of this condition, but that’s life sometimes. Everyone goes thru hardships one way or another.

NO ONE Gets through life unscathed.

You may have to re-do this year and delay med school because of this condition, but if you give it all away now after just 7 days… you’ll never know what could happen in the future.

There are people in much worse conditions than us who are making it through, people without arms and legs… would you want to trade positions with them?

Ending it is permanent, and you’ve only been off for 7 days. Look at junkieastride, he almost committed suicide but luckily for him it didn’t work out. If you succeed there’s no turning back. Give it some time, even though it is a difficult situation.

Echoing the thoughts above. I had severe brain fog for 6 months afterwards - it does get better. Please hang in there man.

@Ihatepropecia1, this is madness. You’re going to act on the extreme worst-case scenario that isn’t typical.

It’s generally accepted that most people recover a great deal from the darkest depths to something livable within the first year. Not uncommon for a total or near-total recovery. Where do you think many of these “did yoga daily and beat PFS within 6 months and so can you!” stories come from?

Those who said you may just have to give up 6 months of your life until you stabilize are right.

Mate, don’t be silly! When I got hit I was not able to read, now I can study and take my exams. Most of the cases the brain fog goes away or get so much better that the guys can do normal life. Why would you kill yourself over that thing when everyone here tells you that it will go away?

@Ihatepropecia1 - Many of us have been where you are with brain fog and know how awful it is. But it gets better if you give it time!

I wasn’t able to form a complete sentence when I got PFS. Thought I’d never work again. Now I’m employed in a job I love, and I don’t think about brain fog.

Please listen to your brothers here and give yourself the space and time to improve!

Ffs Dude…Brainfog is the number one symptom, that almost always go away with time, with sexual sides being on the rock bottom of things that get better…I would never understand, or forgive you for killing yourself over somehing that 90% of cases get better in month or two…Over sexual, sides and insomnia we might then talk about it

He’s in a temporary state of irrationality. Everyone goes through periods at least a little like that, even without PFS. I think we have all had periods where we thought “There is no point in living now and to be alive will just be to suffer for decades with no point” and honestly thinking it would be better to be dead. Then every time a week later we are laughing and smiling about things. I can understand why he feels the way he does but it’s critical he realize how transitory the mental state is.

No need to do that dude, you will get over this feeling. Now what you need to do is fast for a couple of days and stop taking all supplements. While you are fasting, start planning your elimination diet going forward. No more junk food, sugars, chocolate, alcohol rice etc…, Limit yourself to just a few foods to start that are not 5AR inhibitors then slowly add-on another food and observe your reaction to them within a 24/48 period. You will feel so much better if you do this.

I had unbearable brain fog for about 3 months… it slowly got better and after about 18 months its completely gone. I still get some headaches but I’m glad I stayed the course. My life improved considerably. I couldnt look at a computer screen for about 3 months. I still have issues but I’m telling you… the brain fog goes away. Be patient. Improvements take time and they will come. Stay strong
